Five Arrows Acquires Texthelp from LDC

Five Arrows has acquired Texthelp, the Belfast-headquartered provider of literacy and numeracy assistive technologies, from mid-market private equity house LDC. Financial terms were not disclosed; Five Arrows said it will support Texthelp’s continued global expansion and product development following a period in which revenues grew from £19m to £27m under LDC.

Providence Equity Partners will remain a minority investor; The Riverside Company sold its investment as part of the transaction. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Texthelp Acquires Don Johnston Inc.'s Education Technology Division

Texthelp, a PE-backed literacy and accessibility technology company, has acquired the Education Technology Division of Don Johnston Inc., bringing products such as Snap&Read, Co:Writer, Word Bank, Quizbot and uPAR into the Texthelp product suite. The deal expands Texthelp's assistive-technology capabilities for classrooms and workplaces and will see Don Johnston's curriculum division spun out as a new company, Building Wings; terms were not disclosed.

Syntax, a financial data and technology company, has acquired the assets of Tyemill, a Seattle-based software research and development firm. The 24-person Tyemill team joined Syntax effective March 1, 2023, with Tyemill's CEO Ellen Anderson joining Syntax as Managing Director and Head of the Seattle office to strengthen Syntax's product research and development capabilities.
