Five Arrows Acquires Texthelp from LDC

Five Arrows has acquired Texthelp, the Belfast-headquartered provider of literacy and numeracy assistive technologies, from mid-market private equity house LDC. Financial terms were not disclosed; Five Arrows said it will support Texthelp’s continued global expansion and product development following a period in which revenues grew from £19m to £27m under LDC.

LDC Backs Texthelp with Growth Investment

LDC has made a significant growth investment in Texthelp, the Belfast-headquartered education technology specialist, to accelerate growth, expand into new markets and further develop its software and data analytics capabilities. The deal returns capital to prior investor Delta Partners and will support Texthelp's management team as it scales its SaaS products across education and corporate customers worldwide.

IXL Learning Acquires Wyzant Tutoring Marketplace

IXL Learning has agreed to acquire Wyzant, the Chicago-based online tutoring marketplace, in a deal expected to close in Q1 2021. The acquisition brings Wyzant’s network of tens of thousands of tutors into IXL’s K–12 personalized learning platform to expand one-on-one mentoring and broader learning capabilities; Lazard served as exclusive financial advisor to Wyzant.

Texthelp Acquires Don Johnston Inc.'s Education Technology Division

Texthelp, a PE-backed literacy and accessibility technology company, has acquired the Education Technology Division of Don Johnston Inc., bringing products such as Snap&Read, Co:Writer, Word Bank, Quizbot and uPAR into the Texthelp product suite. The deal expands Texthelp's assistive-technology capabilities for classrooms and workplaces and will see Don Johnston's curriculum division spun out as a new company, Building Wings; terms were not disclosed.

Google to Acquire Wiz for $32 Billion

Google LLC has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Wiz, Inc., a New York–based cloud security platform, in an all-cash transaction valued at $32 billion subject to closing adjustments. The deal expands Google Cloud's security capabilities and accelerates its strategy to deliver improved cloud and multicloud security solutions to enterprise customers.

Tutor Doctor Acquires Code Wiz

Tutor Doctor, supported by parent Clear Summit Group, acquired Massachusetts-based Code Wiz, a children’s coding and robotics franchise. The deal will allow Tutor Doctor to expand its afterschool STEM offerings and accelerate Code Wiz’s franchise growth using Tutor Doctor’s franchise management infrastructure.
