Principal Financial Group to Acquire Ascensus ESOP Business

Principal Financial Group announced a definitive agreement to acquire Ascensus’ employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) business, including its ESOP recordkeeping, ESOP Economics consulting, and Telescope software. The deal is anticipated to close around the end of Q2, adding roughly 800 plans and 165,000+ participants to Principal’s workplace savings and retirement solutions business.

American Trust Company to Acquire LT Trust Company

The deal is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is intended to expand American Trust’s institutional outsourcing capabilities, add talent and technology, and increase its presence in the Midwest and Western U.S.

ACS Group Acquires The Ascent Services Group

Atlas Merchant Capital-Led Group Acquires ~25% Stake in Ascensus

A group of new investors led by Atlas Merchant Capital LLC, including GIC, will acquire just under 25% of Ascensus from existing owners Genstar Capital and Aquiline Capital Partners. The minority investment is a growth-capital/secondary transaction to support Ascensus' continued growth and provide liquidity to existing sponsors; terms were not disclosed and the deal was expected to close in Q1 2019.
