Superior Technical Ceramics (STC), a portfolio company backed by Artemis Capital Partners, has acquired IJ Research, Inc., a Santa Ana, California-based manufacturer of sapphire-to-metal brazed hermetic assemblies and electrical feedthroughs. The acquisition, which closed on December 24, 2020, expands STC’s technical ceramics and sealing capabilities to enable vertical integration and deeper customer relationships across aerospace, defense, medical and instrumentation end markets; CriticalPoint acted as buy-side advisor to STC.

IDEX Corporation Acquires Iridian Spectral Technologies

IDEX Corporation agreed to acquire Iridian Spectral Technologies for CAD 150 million and completed the acquisition in May 2023. Iridian, an Ottawa-based designer and manufacturer of thin-film optical filters serving laser communications, telecommunications and life sciences markets, will join IDEX's Optical Technologies within its Health & Science Technology segment to expand IDEX's optical coating and filter capabilities.

IDEX Corporation Acquires Mott Corporation

IDEX Corporation has entered into and completed a definitive agreement to acquire Mott Corporation for $1.0 billion in cash (approximately $900 million net of present-value tax benefits). The acquisition brings Mott's sintered porous metal filtration and flow-control capabilities into IDEX's Health & Science Technologies segment to expand applied materials capabilities across semiconductor, medical, energy, space & defense, and water purification end markets.

Materion Acquires H.C. Starck's Electronic Materials Business

Materion Corporation completed the acquisition of H.C. Starck Solutions’ electronic materials business (HCS-Electronic Materials) in Newton, Massachusetts for an aggregate purchase price of $380 million in cash on a cash-free, debt-free basis. The deal adds approximately $145 million of revenue and expands Materion’s capabilities and market position in premium thin film materials for the semiconductor, industrial, and aerospace & defense markets.

Deltech Holdings Acquires StanChem

Deltech Holdings, a portfolio company of SK Capital Partners, has acquired StanChem, Inc., a maker of emulsion polymers and protective coatings. The acquisition makes StanChem a division of the Deltech platform and is intended to expand Deltech's capabilities across the CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers) value chain; terms were not disclosed. StanChem was previously a portfolio company of Artemis Capital Partners.

Artemis Capital Partners Acquires McDanel Advanced Ceramic Technologies

Boston-based private equity firm Artemis Capital Partners has acquired McDanel Advanced Ceramic Technologies, a Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania manufacturer of high-performance tubular and technical ceramics. Artemis said McDanel will operate independently from its Beaver Falls headquarters while Artemis invests in people, capabilities and capacity to support growth across semiconductor, aerospace & defense, medical and energy end markets.
