Branford Castle Partners Acquires Lafayette Instrument Company

Branford Castle Partners' affiliate has purchased Lafayette Instrument Company, the Lafayette, Indiana-based manufacturer of polygraph systems and neuroscience research instruments. Brookside Capital Partners provided mezzanine debt and an equity co-investment to support the transaction while Byline Sponsor Finance (Byline Bank) provided senior debt; CEO Jennifer Rider and existing management are reinvesting and will remain with the company.

Lafayette Instrument Acquires Actimetrics

Lafayette Instrument Company, a portfolio company of Branford Castle Partners, has acquired Actimetrics, a Wilmette, Illinois-based maker of scientific instrumentation and software for circadian biology and animal behavioral neuroscience. Brookside Capital Partners provided subordinated debt and minority equity to support Lafayette in the bolt-on acquisition; terms were not disclosed.

Lafayette Instrument Acquires Alzet Osmotic Pumps from DURECT

Lafayette Instrument, a Branford Castle Partners portfolio company, has acquired the ALZET Osmotic Pumps business from DURECT Corporation as an add-on to expand Lafayette’s life-science instrumentation offering. The acquisition strengthens Lafayette’s preclinical dosing product line and represents the fourth bolt-on for the company since Branford Castle’s 2021 investment; the deal includes senior and mezzanine debt financing.

Spectrum Science Acquires Aurora Healthcare Communications

Aurora will continue to operate under its brand with existing leadership in place; financing for the deal (and two other recent Spectrum acquisitions) was provided by Monroe Capital.

ATS Scientific Acquires Folio Instruments

The deal expands ATS's geographic footprint across Canada and strengthens its presence in petroleum, energy, environmental and heavy industrial end markets while Folio will continue operating from its Kitchener facility under its existing name.

Bruker Corporation Acquires Spectral Instruments Imaging

Bruker Corporation has acquired Spectral Instruments Imaging LLC, a Tucson-based maker of preclinical in‑vivo optical imaging systems, to broaden Bruker BioSpin's preclinical imaging portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed; SII generated over $10 million in revenue in 2023 and will expand Bruker's capabilities in bioluminescence, fluorescence and X‑ray preclinical imaging.
