NOVA Infrastructure Acquires Xchange Telecom / Skywire Networks

NOVA Infrastructure has acquired Xchange Telecom (and its commercial business, Skywire), a New York–based provider of high-speed internet, voice, and unified communications serving New York City, upstate New York and New Jersey. NOVA — which first invested in Xchange in September 2021 — said the acquisition expands its communications portfolio and positions Xchange to scale broadband and voice services into underserved urban buildings and neighborhoods.

NewNet Communication Technologies, a Skyview Capital portfolio company, announced plans to acquire the WiMAX business from Nokia Siemens Networks, including the full product portfolio, related employees and assets, and active customer and supplier contracts. Approximately 300 Nokia Siemens Networks employees (many in suburban Chicago, USA and Hangzhou, China) are expected to transfer; the deal was expected to close before December 31, 2011 and terms were not disclosed.

Xplornet Communications Inc. has acquired Swift High Speed, a facilities-based rural broadband provider headquartered in Steinbach, Manitoba, including its customers, operations, 218 km of fibre and 119 broadcast towers. The deal transfers Swift High Speed's customers and network to Xplornet while the existing ownership is spinning out employees and equipment into a new fibre installation business, Swift Underground, to continue working with Xplornet on regional FTTH buildout.
