Cerberus Acquires Calspan's Hypersonics and Test Systems Business Units; Forms North Wind

Cerberus Capital Management has acquired Calspan’s hypersonic and defense test systems business units from TransDigm Group and established North Wind, an independent supplier focused on hypersonic test infrastructure, systems and services. The transaction brings together Calspan Aero Systems Engineering (St. Paul, MN) and Calspan Systems (Newport News, VA) under a standalone platform to expand U.S. hypersonic test capabilities for government RDT&E and aerospace customers.

An affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management has completed the full acquisition of Vivace International, a New Orleans–based maker of mission‑critical propulsion tanks and aerospace systems. Cerberus initially made a growth investment in 2024 and plans to scale Vivace's production capacity and advanced manufacturing capabilities to support an expanding portfolio of U.S. defense and spaceflight programs; retired Space Force Colonel and former NASA astronaut Michael Hopkins has joined Vivace as a Senior Advisor.
