Tempur Sealy Acquires Dreams, UK Specialty Bed Retailer

Tempur Sealy International has signed an agreement to acquire Dreams, the United Kingdom's leading specialist bed and mattress retailer, for approximately $475 million (less net debt and working capital adjustments). The acquisition, primarily from an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners / Sun European Partners, expands Tempur Sealy's direct-to-consumer footprint in the UK and is expected to be accretive to EPS while complementing the company’s existing UK operations.

Saatva Merges with Bedding Industries of America

Saatva has entered into a merger with Bedding Industries of America (BIA), bringing BIA’s manufacturing footprint and licensing portfolio under Saatva’s control to create greater end-to-end supply chain ownership. TZP Group will maintain its investment in Saatva; financial terms were not disclosed. The combination is intended to expand manufacturing capabilities, create operational efficiencies, and accelerate growth for Saatva’s DTC and showroom business.

3Z Brands Acquires Leesa Sleep

3Z Brands, a vertically-integrated mattress manufacturer and DTC brand platform, has acquired Leesa Sleep, a direct-to-consumer mattress company founded in Virginia Beach. The deal expands 3Z's portfolio of sleep brands and strengthens its manufacturing and digital capabilities as part of an ongoing roll-up strategy backed by private equity.

Tempur Sealy (Somnigroup) Acquires Mattress Firm

Tempur Sealy International, Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire Mattress Firm, the U.S.'s largest mattress specialty retailer, in a transaction first announced at an approximate $4.0 billion enterprise value and completed in February 2025 with a reported total purchase price of roughly $5.0 billion. The deal was funded with approximately $2.7 billion of cash and the issuance of 34.2 million Tempur Sealy shares; following closing Tempur Sealy renamed itself Somnigroup International and will operate Mattress Firm as a decentralized business unit while divesting a portion of retail locations and the Sleep Outfitters business to MW SO Holdings (Mattress Warehouse).

Bedding Industries of America Acquires Illinois Sleep Products

Bedding Industries of America (BIA) completed a majority acquisition of Illinois Sleep Products (ISP) on January 20, 2022. ISP's Chicago factory and its more than 100 employees will remain in place, be rebranded BIA Midwest, and will expand production of BIA's existing collections and the Harvest Green Mattress brand.

Cortec Group Growth Recapitalizes Little Sleepies

Cortec Group, via an affiliated investment group led by Cortec Fund VII, completed a growth recapitalization of Little Sleepies, LLC on October 29, 2021. The minority/growth investment will partner with founder and CEO Maradith Frenkel to accelerate brand awareness, expand product categories, and scale digital marketing and supply chain capabilities.
