Bedding Industries of America Acquires Illinois Sleep Products

Bedding Industries of America (BIA) completed a majority acquisition of Illinois Sleep Products (ISP) on January 20, 2022. ISP's Chicago factory and its more than 100 employees will remain in place, be rebranded BIA Midwest, and will expand production of BIA's existing collections and the Harvest Green Mattress brand.

3Z Brands Acquires Leesa Sleep

Valesco Industries Acquires American Bedding Manufacturers

Valesco Industries completed a majority buyout of American Bedding Manufacturers (ABM) on March 26, 2024, marking the second platform investment from Valesco Fund III. Headquartered in Athens, Tennessee, ABM is a niche manufacturer and distributor of mattresses, bed frames and case goods serving institutional end markets; the founders, Boyd and Dale Reynolds, sold a majority stake and FourBridges Capital Advisors acted as exclusive financial advisor.

The Vita Group Acquires Usleep Limited

The Vita Group has acquired Usleep Limited, a UK mattress manufacturer, from NorthEdge and The Belfield Group. The deal expands Vita's European bedding manufacturing footprint and adds Usleep's two semi-automated production sites and customer relationships with major mattress retailers and direct-to-consumer bed-in-a-box brands.

Tempur Sealy (Somnigroup) Acquires Mattress Firm

Tempur Sealy International, Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire Mattress Firm, the U.S.'s largest mattress specialty retailer, in a transaction first announced at an approximate $4.0 billion enterprise value and completed in February 2025 with a reported total purchase price of roughly $5.0 billion. The deal was funded with approximately $2.7 billion of cash and the issuance of 34.2 million Tempur Sealy shares; following closing Tempur Sealy renamed itself Somnigroup International and will operate Mattress Firm as a decentralized business unit while divesting a portion of retail locations and the Sleep Outfitters business to MW SO Holdings (Mattress Warehouse).

Cerberus Acquires Brooklyn Bedding and Helix Sleep to Form DTC Mattress Platform

An affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management has acquired Brooklyn Bedding and Helix Sleep and combined them into a vertically integrated direct-to-consumer mattress platform. The combined business will operate under the existing brand names with John Merwin leading the combined company and Helix's co-founders leading the DTC segment, leveraging manufacturing and digital capabilities to scale the business.
