Cambridge Information Group (CIG), a family-owned investment firm, has acquired The Emerald Group (Emerald Publishing), a UK-based academic publisher and provider of corporate learning. The deal is intended to provide continuity of ownership while accelerating Emerald’s growth and capability development across higher education research, open research initiatives, and corporate learning products.

Cambridge University Press & Assessment Acquires CogBooks

Cambridge University Press & Assessment has acquired CogBooks, an adaptive online learning technology company, to strengthen its adaptive learning capabilities and combine Cambridge’s content with CogBooks’ courseware and platform. NICE Acquires MindTouch

MindTouch, founded in 2005, reported about 100 employees and over 300 customers in 2020; financial terms were not disclosed.

Skillsoft and Churchill Capital Corp II Acquire Global Knowledge

Skillsoft (through its business combination with Churchill Capital Corp II) completed the acquisition of Global Knowledge Training LLC in a transaction announced in 2020 and closed June 11, 2021. The deal was reported at approximately $233 million and combines Global Knowledge’s IT and technology training capabilities with Skillsoft’s digital learning platform to expand enterprise learning content and modalities.

KIT Digital Acquires Kyte, KickApps and Kewego for $77.2M

Prague-based KIT Digital acquired three online/video platform businesses — Kyte (San Francisco), KickApps (New York), and Kewego (Paris) — in January for a combined purchase price of about $77.2 million. The deals expand KIT Digital's multi-screen video asset management, social-media integration and geographic presence; KickApps' CEO Alex Blum was named KIT Digital COO and Kyte's Gannon Hall joined KIT's Prague HQ as EVP of Marketing.
