Engineering Services Acquisitions in Florida

Private equity firm First Reserve has acquired WGI, Inc., a multidisciplinary engineering and professional services firm headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida. Monroe Capital served as lead left administrative agent on a senior credit facility to finance the acquisition; WGI operates 23 offices nationwide and provides transportation, environmental, geospatial, land development and municipal professional services.

SAM Companies has acquired Hyatt Survey Services, Inc., a Florida-based land surveying, mapping, and hydrographic firm with ~30 professionals. The deal expands SAM's presence and capabilities in Florida, adding surveying, aerial mapping/LiDAR and hydrographic services to better serve utilities, transportation and infrastructure clients across the Southeast.

Sciens Building Solutions, a Carlyle-backed fire and life safety platform, has acquired Southern Fire Control, a Pembroke Pines, Florida-based full-service fire sprinkler contractor founded in 1990. The add-on expands Sciens' presence in Florida to eight locations and increases the company's Florida headcount to nearly 600, broadening its capabilities across education, healthcare, hospitality and multi-family verticals.

GSE Solutions has acquired Iddeal Concepts, Iddeal Services, and Iddeal Solutions, adding the IDDEAL Software Suite and specialized ASME Section XI inspection and O&M code testing expertise. The acquisition expands GSE's engineering programs and inspection/compliance capabilities for nuclear and power generation customers; Iddeal will operate under GSE Solutions with key leadership retained.

Security 101 has acquired AV-Worx, an audio-visual systems integrator that specializes in mission-critical control rooms, emergency operations centers, and advanced visualization systems. The deal expands Security 101's capabilities by integrating high-reliability AV engineering and visualization with its existing electronic security services to better serve utilities, public safety, transportation, government, and enterprise customers.

PRIME AE Group, a Platform Holdings-managed engineering and architecture firm, has acquired Faller, Davis & Associates (FDA), a Florida-based civil engineering consultancy specializing in transportation and environmental services. The add-on strengthens PRIME AE’s Florida footprint, expands transportation and environmental capabilities, and enhances service capacity for state and municipal public-sector clients across key corridors.

ZenaTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZENA) completed the acquisition of Smith Surveying Group LLC, a Jacksonville, Florida-based land surveying and inspection firm founded in 1988. The purchase expands ZenaTech’s Drone as a Service (DaaS) network and strengthens its capabilities to serve government, aviation, and commercial infrastructure markets in the Jacksonville region.

Pape-Dawson has acquired Innerlight Engineering, a Miramar Beach, Florida-based civil engineering, surveying, and land planning firm, to expand its footprint and service capabilities in Northwest Florida. The acquisition is Pape-Dawson's fifth in Florida in the past three years and will broaden the combined team's engineering and planning offerings for public and private clients across the state.

Pape-Dawson has acquired Bonnett Design Group, a Maitland, Florida-based landscape architecture and planning firm. The acquisition expands Pape-Dawson’s capabilities in landscape architecture and planning and marks the firm’s fourth Florida acquisition, strengthening its multidisciplinary service offering across the state.

Milrose Consultants, backed by Southfield Capital, has acquired ARC Private Provider Services, Inc. and Plans Runner, Inc. The add-on expands Milrose's permitting, plans review and private provider inspection capabilities into the South Florida market and strengthens its ability to serve national accounts with faster permitting approvals.

Acuren Corporation completed its previously announced combination with NV5 Global, creating a market-leading North American provider of Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) and engineering services. NV5 stockholders received $23.00 per share (composed of $10.00 cash and 1.1523 shares of Acuren common stock), the transaction implies an enterprise value of approximately $1.7 billion, and the combined business will operate with over $2 billion in revenue and more than 11,000 employees across 230+ locations.

UES, a national engineering and consulting firm, has acquired Geohazards Engineering and Geology, a Gainesville, Florida-based geology and engineering firm that specializes in forensic engineering, geotechnical engineering, geology and geophysics. The 18-person firm will continue operating from its Gainesville office as a second UES branch there, expanding UES' forensic engineering, geotechnical and geophysical capabilities.

Green Companies, Inc., the parent of HR Green, has acquired Infrastructure Solution Services (ISS), a Florida-based civil engineering firm with offices in Melbourne and Sarasota. The deal strengthens HR Green's water, municipal, and land development capabilities and expands its geographic footprint in Florida; ISS leadership will remain in place with Brian Stahl serving as Regional Director.

Pape-Dawson has acquired Sarasota-based civil engineering firm Morris Engineering & Consulting, expanding its Florida footprint. The deal is Pape-Dawson's third acquisition in Florida and is intended to broaden its land development, engineering, surveying and related services in the greater Sarasota and Southwest Florida markets.

GHC|orcutt winslow, a Bernhard Capital Partners portfolio company, has acquired Straughn Trout Architects, a Lakeland, Florida-based architecture firm focused on K-12, higher education, municipal and commercial projects. Financial terms were not disclosed; the deal expands GHC's footprint and capabilities in Central Florida and is the firm's seventh strategic acquisition since partnering with Bernhard Capital in September 2022.

CPH Consulting, a member of the Trilon family (backed by Alpine Investors), has acquired Mittauer & Associates, a Florida-based engineering firm specializing in water, wastewater, civil and structural engineering. Heritage Capital Group served as exclusive financial advisor to Mittauer; terms were not disclosed.

Gannett Fleming TranSystems has acquired Scalar Consulting Group Inc., a West Palm Beach, Florida-based transportation engineering and CE&I firm. The deal expands Gannett Fleming TranSystems' presence in Florida and broadens its transportation and construction engineering & inspection capabilities, adding Scalar's five offices and technical engineering staff.

Certerra, a technology-enabled testing, inspection and certification platform backed by OceanSound Partners, has acquired Tierra, Inc., a Tampa-based geotechnical and materials engineering firm with 27+ years of experience and over 210 employees. The deal expands Certerra's presence and capabilities in the U.S. Southeast—adding laboratory and field testing capacity in Tampa, Orlando and Pensacola—and will enhance service offerings to government, transportation, municipal and commercial infrastructure clients.

Impact Fire, the regional operating company of AI Fire, has acquired Gulf Coast Fire & Integration, a Tampa- and Destin-based provider of fire, life-safety and security services. The add-on expands Impact Fire's northern Florida footprint and broadens its service capabilities across fire alarms, access control, CCTV, nurse call and related life-safety systems for hospitality, multi-family and commercial customers.

ZenaTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZENA) has acquired KJM Land Surveying LLC, a Pensacola, Florida-based land survey engineering firm, as part of its roll-up strategy to expand its Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) footprint. The deal establishes a Southeast U.S. base for ZenaTech's DaaS operations and accelerates the company's use of AI-enabled drone capabilities for land surveying and related services.

ATIS, a portfolio company of Thompson Street Capital Partners (TSCP), has acquired M.A.N Elevator Inspections, a Florida-based provider of elevator inspection services. The deal expands ATIS's footprint and inspection capacity across southeastern (and western) Florida; terms were not disclosed.

McAdams, a Raleigh-based multidisciplinary civil engineering and design firm, has acquired AVID Group, LLC, a Central Florida civil engineering firm with offices in Tampa Bay and Orlando. The acquisition expands McAdams' geographic presence in the Southeast and augments its land development, surveying/geomatics, and commercial/retail engineering capabilities in Florida.

Godspeed Capital-backed Stengel Hill Architecture (SHA) has acquired Mason Blau & Associates, Inc. (MBA), a Clearwater, Florida-based architecture firm, as an add-on to SHA's AEC platform. The acquisition expands SHA's geographic footprint and healthcare and government customer relationships in Florida; MBA's leadership will remain with the business.

OHM Advisors has acquired Griner Engineering, a Florida-based mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering firm founded in 1968. The deal expands OHM Advisors' presence in the southern United States (notably Florida and Tennessee) and strengthens its MEP engineering capabilities by adding Griner's staff and client relationships.

Houston-based LJA Engineering acquired Melbourne, Florida-headquartered BSE Consultants, Inc., a 30-person engineering and land surveying firm. The acquisition closed on October 29, 2024 and strengthens LJA's footprint across Florida; Generational Capital Markets advised BSE on the sale.

Parsons Corporation agreed to acquire BCC Engineering, a Trivest Partners portfolio company, in an all-cash transaction valued at $230 million (net transaction value $221 million, ~13.0x 2025e EBITDA). The acquisition expands Parsons' infrastructure and transportation engineering presence in the Southeastern United States — BCC will join Parsons' North America Infrastructure business unit and is expected to generate about $110 million revenue in 2025.

Traffic & Mobility Consultants (TMC), a Florida-based transportation planning and traffic engineering firm backed by Grovecourt Capital Partners, has acquired Propel Engineering, a West Palm Beach civil engineering firm specializing in highway design, traffic analysis, and structural design. The deal is the third add-on to TMC's platform as Grovecourt builds a diversified transportation engineering provider in Florida; financial terms were not disclosed.

Apex Companies, LLC has acquired Johnson Engineering, Inc., a Florida-based multidisciplinary civil engineering firm with more than 130 professionals across six offices. The acquisition expands Apex’s engineering and consulting capabilities in Florida; Johnson Engineering will operate as "Johnson Engineering, an Apex Company" with existing management led by Lonnie Howard remaining in place.

Atwell, a national consulting, engineering and construction services firm, has acquired Biscayne Engineering, an engineering and surveying company with offices in Miami and Boca Raton, Florida. The acquisition adds over 50 employees, establishes Atwell’s first office in Miami and expands the firm’s surveying, engineering and GIS capabilities in South Florida; terms were not disclosed.

YA Group has acquired Bloomberg Consulting, LLC, a Gulf Breeze, Florida–based forensics firm specializing in vehicle accident reconstruction and biomechanical analysis. Bloomberg will join YA Engineering Services (YAES) to strengthen YA’s national accident reconstruction and biomechanics capabilities and expand its U.S. footprint.

PRIME AE Group, Inc. (a subsidiary of NewHold Enterprises) has acquired Connelly & Wicker, Inc., a Jacksonville- and Orlando-based civil engineering and landscape architecture firm. The acquisition expands PRIME AE's Southeast presence and integrates CWI into the Prosser | PRIME AE Southeast division to broaden regional planning, engineering and permitting capabilities.

STV Group, Incorporated has acquired MEHTA and Associates, Inc. (MEHTA Engineering), a Florida-based engineering and construction inspection firm with more than 75 professionals and seven Florida locations. The acquisition expands STV's transportation and infrastructure capabilities and strengthens its presence across Florida.

Traffic & Mobility Consultants (TMC), a Grovecourt Capital Partners-backed transportation planning and traffic engineering platform, has acquired Lincks & Associates, a Tampa-based transportation and traffic engineering firm founded in 1987. The add-on deal expands TMC's presence in Florida and combines complementary client portfolios to pursue statewide growth in transportation engineering services; terms were not disclosed.

Pape-Dawson Engineers has acquired Bonita Springs, Florida-based multidisciplinary engineering firm GradyMinor as part of its strategy to expand its Florida footprint and national multidisciplinary engineering practice. GradyMinor, founded in 1981, has approximately 75 team members and additional offices in Fort Myers; the acquisition strengthens Pape-Dawson's municipal engineering, land development, surveying and landscape architecture capabilities.

Traffic & Mobility Consultants (TMC), an Orlando-based transportation planning and traffic engineering firm, has acquired O'Rourke Engineering & Planning, a traffic and transportation engineering practice in Stuart, Florida. The deal—terms not disclosed and with Greenberg Traurig advising TMC and Arago Law advising O'Rourke—expands TMC's geographic footprint and augments its transportation engineering capabilities for public and private clients across Florida.

DCCM, a Houston-based national provider of design, consulting and program & construction management services (and a White Wolf Capital Group portfolio company), has acquired Chastain-Skillman, LLC, a Lakeland, Florida-based civil engineering and land surveying firm. The acquisition expands DCCM’s infrastructure engineering capabilities and regional presence in Florida; Jay Chastain will serve as CEO of the Chastain-Skillman business going forward.

WSB LLC, a Minneapolis-based design and consulting firm and portfolio company of GHK Capital Partners, has acquired AE Engineering, Inc., a transportation infrastructure engineering firm headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. The acquisition adds 13 offices and more than 170 employees to WSB, strengthening its presence and service offerings across the southeastern United States.

Excel Services Corporation acquired IEPSON Consulting Enterprises, Inc. (effective Aug. 1, 2023) to expand its licensing, regulatory and engineering services to the nuclear industry. Pelican Energy Partners provided equity financing to Excel and will be a passive equity holder to support Excel's growth and future acquisitions while Excel's leadership remains in place.

NV5 Global, Inc. (NV5) has acquired CHW Professional Consultants, a Gainesville, Florida-based civil engineering and surveying firm with approximately 130 employees and four Florida offices. The acquisition expands NV5's infrastructure engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, and program management capabilities while densifying the company's presence across Florida.

Woolpert has acquired Bermello Ajamil & Partners (BA), a Miami-based architecture, engineering, planning, and landscape architecture firm known for maritime, aviation, healthcare, commercial, and municipal projects. The deal adds roughly 150–160 professionals to Woolpert, deepens its maritime and AE capabilities, and expands its geospatial and AI-enabled service offerings and geographic footprint.

Atwell, a national consulting, engineering, and construction services firm, has acquired BEI Engineering Group, LLC (doing business as Banks Engineering), a 90-person civil engineering, planning, and land surveying firm based in Fort Myers, Florida. The acquisition expands Atwell's capabilities and presence in Southwest Florida (Fort Myers and Port Charlotte); terms were not disclosed.

Grace Hebert Curtis Architects (GHC), a Bernhard Capital Partners–backed AEC platform, has acquired BSSW Architects, a full-service architectural firm with offices in Fort Myers and Naples, Florida. Financial terms were not disclosed; the deal is an add-on to GHC's AEC platform intended to expand capabilities and market presence in southwestern Florida—particularly in education, government and hospitality sectors.

SOCOTEC (via SOCOTEC USA and SOCOTEC UK) has completed acquisitions of U.S.-based SLS Consulting and UK-based IETG, strengthening its life safety, fire protection and electronic surveillance capabilities while accelerating international expansion into the United States and United Kingdom. The deals broaden SOCOTEC's technical services for buildings, infrastructure and water sectors and support the group's growth ambitions and greater international revenue mix.

Landtec Surveying & Lien, a Deerfield Beach, Florida land surveying firm, has acquired Wallace Surveying Corporation, a leading commercial surveying company in Palm Beach County. The acquisition expands Landtec’s geographic footprint and capabilities in commercial and boundary surveying across Palm Beach County and strengthens its position as one of Florida’s fastest-growing surveying firms.

San Antonio-based Pape-Dawson Engineers has acquired Orlando-based Poulos & Bennett, expanding the firm's footprint into Florida and adding land planning and civil engineering capabilities. The firm also purchased Houston-based Costello Inc., strengthening its presence in Texas and broadening service offerings including landscape architecture and structural engineering.

UES, a national engineering and consulting firm, has acquired Biome Consulting Group, an ecological consulting firm based in Pensacola, Florida. The acquisition expands UES's ecological and environmental services capabilities in North Florida and adds Biome's expertise in ecological studies, regulatory compliance, and mitigation banking to UES's regional offering.

Godspeed Capital-backed Stratus (via its Zyscovich brand) has acquired Synalovski Romanik Saye Architects (SRS), a Fort Lauderdale-based full-service architecture and interior design firm. The add-on strengthens Stratus's multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, and consulting platform and expands its presence and capabilities in the Florida market.

Grovecourt Capital Partners, a West Palm Beach–based private equity firm, has acquired Traffic & Mobility Consultants LLC (TMC), an Orlando-based transportation planning and traffic engineering firm. Grovecourt said the investment will support TMC's geographic expansion across Florida and the Southeast and enable organic growth and strategic M&A.

Control Point Associates has acquired McLaughlin Engineering Company, a Fort Lauderdale-based land surveying and engineering firm. The acquisition establishes Control Point's southernmost office, expands its geographic footprint in southeast Florida, and adds McLaughlin's land surveying, hydrographic survey, land planning, and UAV/aerial photogrammetry capabilities and client relationships.

The Norlee Group, a portfolio company of White Wolf Capital Group, has acquired Colwill Engineering, a Tampa-based electrical, mechanical and technology engineering contractor. White Wolf provided senior term debt and a minority equity co-investment to finance the add-on acquisition, which expands Norlee's engineering and design capabilities across Florida and nationwide.
