Renewable Energy Acquisitions in Utah

SunPower Corporation acquired Blue Raven Solar in a cash transaction of up to $165 million to accelerate its residential solar business and expand its geographic footprint into underpenetrated U.S. regions. Blue Raven’s CEO Ben Peterson will join SunPower’s executive team as SunPower combines its products and digital tools with Blue Raven’s direct-to-consumer sales and installation capabilities to grow residential solar and related financing products.

Chevron U.S.A. Inc., through its Chevron New Energies division, has closed the acquisition of 100% of Magnum Development, LLC from Haddington Ventures, gaining a majority interest in ACES Delta, LLC — the developer of the Advanced Clean Energy Storage hydrogen production and salt-cavern storage project in Delta, Utah. The project will produce and store renewable hydrogen (first phase ~100 metric tons/day) to serve utility, transportation and industrial customers in the western United States and is expected to enter commercial-scale operations in mid-2025.

Applied Value Group has acquired ES Solar as a new platform investment. ES Solar, Utah's largest residential and commercial solar and battery installer with operations in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming, will keep its existing management team and work with Applied Value to expand into new markets, launch new products, and accelerate deployment of residential and commercial solar and storage systems.

Greenbelt Capital Partners led a growth investment in ION Solar alongside Trilantic (Trilantic Energy Partners II North America), Blackstone Credit and Energy Impact Partners. ION Solar founders will retain majority ownership as the company uses the capital to expand geographically and into adjacent residential energy products such as storage and EV charging.

Sunworks, Inc. (NASDAQ:SUNW) agreed to acquire privately held Solcius, LLC in an all-cash transaction valued at $51.8 million (cash-free, debt-free), combining Sunworks' commercial and utility capabilities with Solcius' residential installation platform. The deal creates a national solar provider with a presence in 12 states and pro forma 2020 revenue of approximately $131.5 million, with Sunworks expecting synergies and near-term profitability post-integration.
