Raytheon Company has acquired Herndon, Virginia-based Foreground Security, a provider of security operations centers (SOCs), managed security services and cybersecurity professional services. The deal — which creates Raytheon Foreground Security (RFS) — expands Raytheon's managed security capabilities across federal, international and commercial markets; Foreground has approximately 165 employees.

The private equity firm said it will partner with Forcepoint management to invest in the company's cloud-native security portfolio and operate Forcepoint as an independent company; the deal is financed in part by debt from Credit Suisse and remains subject to regulatory review.

SFS, founded in 1993 and based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area (Coppell, Texas), provides fire sprinkler design, installation, testing, maintenance and fire alarm services across Texas, Arkansas, Colorado and Oklahoma; SFS management will remain in place as Blackford pursues further add-on consolidation opportunities.

The deal, a divestiture of Maxar's RF Solutions assets, adds two on-orbit satellites, IP, a data archive and about 11 employees to HawkEye 360, expanding its RF-spectrum scanning and analytics capabilities.
