Cybersecurity Acquisitions in 2015

Courion, an identity governance and administration (IGA) provider, acquired Core Security, a vulnerability management and attack intelligence company, to combine identity and vulnerability intelligence into an integrated Vulnerability and Risk Management (VRM) solution. The deal brings together Courion's IGA capabilities with Core Security's analytics-driven attack intelligence to provide customers a more comprehensive view of attack surface, detection and remediation.

Rapid7, Inc. acquired RevelOps, Inc. d/b/a Logentries for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $68 million, consisting of about $36 million in cash and $32 million in Rapid7 equity. The acquisition adds Logentries' cloud-based machine data search, log management, and forensics capabilities to Rapid7's security data and analytics platform to improve incident detection, investigation, and compliance offerings.

Raytheon Company has acquired Herndon, Virginia-based Foreground Security, a provider of security operations centers (SOCs), managed security services and cybersecurity professional services. The deal — which creates Raytheon Foreground Security (RFS) — expands Raytheon's managed security capabilities across federal, international and commercial markets; Foreground has approximately 165 employees.

Cyber Risk Management, LLC (CRM), a Tampa-based data risk management firm, has acquired ANRC, a San Antonio-based cybersecurity training, consulting, and solutions provider. The acquisition expands CRM's service offering to include ANRC's hands-on training programs and security products for government and private enterprise clients.

CA Technologies has completed the acquisition of Xceedium, Inc., a provider of privileged identity management solutions for on-premise, cloud and hybrid IT environments. The deal brings Xceedium's proxy-based gateway privileged identity controls into CA's security portfolio; all Xceedium personnel have joined CA and terms were not disclosed.

Accenture has acquired FusionX, a Washington, D.C.-area cyber security firm founded in 2010 that specializes in advanced attack simulation, threat modeling, investigations and security risk advisory services. The acquisition strengthens Accenture's global Security practice by adding FusionX's red-team and advanced adversary simulation capabilities to Accenture's security transformation and operations offerings. Terms were not disclosed.

Marlin Equity Partners has completed the acquisition of Fidelis Cybersecurity from General Dynamics. Fidelis, provider of the Fidelis XPS advanced threat defense platform and incident response services, will be backed by Marlin to accelerate product development, go-to-market expansion and strengthen its position in advanced threat defense and forensics markets.

Canadian managed security services provider Above Security acquired Seccuris, an information assurance integrator and MSSP headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The acquisition expands Above Security’s domestic capabilities and coast-to-coast SOC coverage in Canada, creating a larger pure‑play MSSP with wider service offerings and over 130 combined employees.
