Electrical Services Acquisitions in California

RapidFire Safety & Security, a fire, life safety and electronic security platform backed by Concentric Equity Partners, has acquired Tri-X, a 37-year-old low-voltage fire and security systems integrator headquartered in San Dimas, California. The deal expands RapidFire's service capabilities and strengthens its footprint across Southern California as the company's continued buy-and-build growth in the region.

Beacon Communications, a national critical communications and life-safety systems provider based in Littleton, Colorado, acquired Southern California–based Thompson Engineering effective October 22, 2024. The acquisition expands Beacon's presence and capabilities in healthcare, education, government and energy facilities across Southern California and transitions Thompson from a 53-year family-owned business as CEO Adam Thompson retires.

Sciens Building Solutions, a Carlyle-backed fire and life safety platform, has acquired El Cajon, California-based Standard Electronics, a provider of fire alarm and low-voltage systems serving the greater San Diego area. The add-on expands Sciens' Southern California footprint and brings additional expertise serving K-12 schools, government and other commercial verticals.

Sciens Building Solutions, the Carlyle-backed fire and life safety platform, has acquired Vista, California-based Low Voltage Integrated Systems (LVIS) and added it to the Sciens platform as a Southern California expansion. The add-on will expand Sciens' regional capabilities in fire, life-safety and low-voltage security systems while giving LVIS access to the platform's broader resources and capital.

Rexel has agreed to acquire Talley, a U.S. distributor of wireless infrastructure products and solutions, to strengthen its data communications and datacenter offering in North America. Talley, founded in 1983 and headquartered in Santa Fe Springs/Los Angeles, will contribute roughly $360m of 2024 revenue, operates 11 warehouses with 300+ employees, and the deal is expected to close in June subject to U.S. antitrust approval.

Sciens Building Solutions has acquired Pleasant Hill, California-based Key Security Designs and will merge it into its fire-life safety division, Sabah International, to expand security capabilities across the San Francisco Bay Area. Sciens, a holding company backed by The Carlyle Group, expects the acquisition to broaden its cloud-hosted security and systems-integration expertise and deepen its regional presence.

Climatec, LLC (a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch LLC) has acquired West Coast Fire & Integration Inc., a Yorba Linda, California-based provider of fire life safety, security, nurse call, and voice/data building solutions. The acquisition—terms undisclosed—adds roughly 65 employees and expands Climatec's capabilities and presence in Southern California across healthcare, education, commercial office, and hospitality end markets.

Pavion (formerly Corbett Technology Solutions), a Wind Point Partners-backed integrated fire, safety and security provider, has acquired Premier Security Solutions, a Bay Area specialist in commercial fire alarm, security and wireless transmission services. The acquisition expands Pavion's western U.S. fire alarm and security capabilities and is Pavion's 15th add-on since partnering with Wind Point in 2020.

Rapid Fire Safety & Security, a Concentric Equity Partners-backed platform, has acquired Pacific Auxiliary Fire Alarm Company (PAFA), a San Francisco-based provider of commercial fire alarm design, installation, testing, maintenance and monitoring. The deal — Rapid Fire's second add-on since launching the platform — expands its presence into Northern California while the seller, third-generation owner Derek Shackley, will remain in a leadership role.

Corbel Capital Partners closed a structured preferred equity investment in Tennyson Electric Inc. to support the company’s continued growth. Tennyson Electric, a union-based electrical contractor headquartered in Livermore, California, performs public works and private electrical projects across the Bay Area, including traffic signals, street lighting and fiber communications.

Convergint, a global systems integrator, has acquired Northern California-based security systems integrator Ojo Technology Inc. The deal expands Convergint's West Coast presence and strengthens its capabilities in the state, local, education, and transportation markets.

Sciens Building Solutions has acquired Mira Loma, California–based Time & Alarm Systems (TAS), adding the low-voltage integrator to its fire-life safety and security platform. Backed by The Carlyle Group, Sciens said the acquisition expands its California footprint—giving TAS access to Sciens’ national resources and capital to support regional growth.

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) has acquired Computer Protection Technology (CPT), a leading critical power service and solutions provider in Southern California. CPT will operate as a service branch of MEPPI, preserving its Southern California base while expanding MEPPI's critical power service capabilities to better serve mission-critical customers.

Wrench Group, a national home services platform, has acquired Maine Home Services, a Bay Area electrical services provider. Maine will operate under the Service Champions umbrella to expand Wrench’s electrical capabilities and strengthen its presence in the San Jose/Bay Area market; terms were not disclosed.

The Cook & Boardman Group (a Littlejohn & Co. portfolio company) has acquired Fountain Valley, California-based BlueViolet Networks. The deal expands Cook & Boardman's security integration footprint with its first facility in California to support access control, enterprise communications and intelligent surveillance services; terms were not disclosed.

Assurance Mezzanine Fund provided mezzanine financing to sponsor JK Holdings, LLC to support the acquisition of Santa Fe Springs, California-based L Tech Network Services, Inc. L Tech is a low-voltage cabling and network-installation specialist (copper, fiber optic, coaxial) that also delivers AutoCAD floor plans and testing reports.
