Environmental Services Acquisitions in Ohio

Rochester Midland Corporation has acquired Solid Blend Technologies, Inc., a Dayton, Ohio–based water management and environmental solutions provider. The acquisition expands Rochester Midland's U.S. water business by growing its Midwest presence and adding differentiated solid-chemistry water treatment capabilities and healthcare-focused water-safety expertise.

TruArc Partners, a middle‑market private equity firm, has acquired Schill Grounds Management from Argonne Capital Group. Cleveland‑based Schill is a commercial landscaping provider with more than 30 branches across the Midwest and Mid‑Atlantic; TruArc plans to accelerate organic growth, pursue add‑on acquisitions and expand the company's geographic footprint while founder Jerry Schill remains CEO.

Kemira has acquired AquaBlue, Inc., an Ohio-based provider of industrial water and wastewater treatment services, in a deal valued at under USD 10 million. The acquisition will integrate AquaBlue into Kemira's Water Solutions business to strengthen Kemira's service-led industrial water treatment capabilities in North America and expand its offerings to food & beverage, manufacturing and healthcare customers.

Exscape Group, a Cleveland-based landscape services platform backed by BHMS Investments, announced add-on acquisitions of three Columbus-area companies — WinnScapes, Pony Lawncare and Landscaping, and Shearer Patio & Landscape Services / Polaris Pools — to expand into the Columbus, Ohio market. Each founding owner will join Exscape Group as operating leaders, preserving continuity of teams and client relationships as part of the platform expansion.

Funds managed by Leonard Green & Partners have acquired Jones Lake Management from Fort Point Capital in a sponsor-to-sponsor recapitalization. Fort Point will remain a minority investor; Jones Lake Management — headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio — provides pond and lake management services across 26 states and will continue its growth under the new majority sponsor.

Ancor Capital Partners, a Southlake, Texas-based private investment firm, has made a growth investment in Vapor Systems Technologies, Inc. (VST), a Springboro, Ohio designer and manufacturer of vapor recovery and fuel-dispensing solutions. Glenn Walker will remain VST's majority owner and CEO, and Ancor said the capital will be used to accelerate growth and expand the company's reach into new markets.

Kogi Environmental Solutions acquired Dynacom, a Chagrin Falls, Ohio-based provider of industrial air pollution control and indoor air quality services, effective August 1, 2025. The transaction expands Kogi's regional footprint and technical capabilities in Ohio and across North America by combining Dynacom's 45+ years of field expertise with Kogi's service network.

BHMS Investments made a significant growth investment to support the combination of Cleveland-area landscape firms Exscape Designs and Green Impressions into a new parent, Exscape Group. The capital will fund geographic expansion across the Great Lakes–Midwest region through organic growth and a focused acquisition strategy while founders remain in leadership roles.

Visterra Landscape Group, a commercial landscaping platform, has acquired Cleveland-based H&M Landscaping, a provider of commercial landscape and snow & ice management services. The deal (effective immediately) expands Visterra's service footprint across northern Ohio, western Pennsylvania and northeast Indiana; H&M will retain its leadership team and nearly 300 employees.

Turf Masters Brands, a Roswell, Georgia–based residential lawn care platform, acquired Cardinal Lawns, a lawn care, tree care and pest control provider based in Columbus, Ohio. The deal expands Turf Masters Brands' footprint into the Ohio market as part of its ongoing add-on acquisition strategy; terms were not disclosed.

Roark Capital has entered a strategic partnership with GPRS Holdings, with Kohlberg & Company remaining a minority investor. GPRS management, led by CEO Matt Aston, will continue to lead and retain significant ownership as Roark and Kohlberg support accelerated growth and continued development of GPRS’s SiteMap software and infrastructure visualization services.

SGS has acquired Aster Global Environmental Solutions, Inc., a provider of greenhouse gas (GHG) validation and verification, forestry and ecosystem services, and sustainability assurance. The acquisition adds roughly 25 employees and expands SGS’s Impact Now for sustainability platform and GHG service capabilities in North America and globally.

LawnPRO Partners, a residential lawn care platform backed by HCI Equity Partners, has acquired Meehan's Lawn Service, a Brook Park, Ohio–based residential lawn and pest services provider founded in 1993. The Meehans (Tim and Deanna) will remain with the business; the acquisition is LawnPRO's ninth and strengthens its footprint in the Cleveland / Northeast Ohio market. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Jones Lake Management, a Fort Point Capital‑backed provider of pond and lake management services, has partnered with/acquired Ponds Beautiful, a Medina, Ohio pond and lake services business owned by Joe Hinderman. The deal expands Jones Lake's Northern Ohio coverage and brings Ponds Beautiful's recurring treatment, algae and aquatic weed management, fish stocking and aeration customers into Jones Lake's platform.

Midwest Remediation, a CID Capital portfolio company, has acquired Icon Property Rescue of Cincinnati (headquartered in Milford, Ohio). The add-on expands Midwest Remediation's emergency restoration footprint into the Cincinnati/OH-KY market and is the second acquisition since CID's investment in February 2023.

The Davey Tree Expert Company has acquired VanCuren Services and Midwest Land Clearing of Newbury, Ohio. Nearly 60 employees from the two firms will join Davey's Residential/Commercial service line as Davey expands its land-clearing and tree-care capabilities in Northeast Ohio.

Balance Point Capital Advisors and its affiliated funds announced an investment in Schill Grounds Management, a portfolio company of Argonne Capital Group. The capital will support Schill's current acquisition pipeline and provide additional funding for future M&A as the commercial landscaping platform continues expansion across the Midwest and Canada.

Amherst-based Great Lakes Grounds Management acquired the commercial landscape maintenance division of Elyria-based Evergreen Tree & Lawncare Inc., assuming commercial customer accounts, equipment and employees. The carved-out deal expands Great Lakes' service footprint in Lorain and Cuyahoga counties and is the company's third and largest acquisition since 2018.

Verdantas, a private-equity-backed environmental and engineering firm, has acquired CT Consultants, Inc., a century-old engineering and environmental consulting firm with a 320-person team. The deal expands Verdantas's water/wastewater, municipal, and transportation engineering capabilities across the Great Lakes region and surrounding states; EFCG advised Verdantas and AEC Advisors advised CT.

Montrose Environmental Group, Inc. (NYSE: MEG) has acquired Engineering & Technical Associates, Inc. (ETA), a process safety management (PSM) leader, which will join Montrose’s Assessment, Permitting & Response segment. The acquisition strengthens Montrose’s Environmental, Health, Safety & Security advisory capabilities and Montrose concurrently raised its 2024 revenue and consolidated adjusted EBITDA outlook.

Heritage-Crystal Clean, Inc., a portfolio company of investment affiliates of J.F. Lehman & Company, has acquired Envirosafe Services of Ohio, a fully permitted hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facility. The deal expands Crystal Clean's hazardous waste infrastructure and processing capabilities, allowing the company to better support its commercial and industrial customer base.

First Onsite Property Restoration, a North American disaster recovery and restoration provider and subsidiary of FirstService Corporation, has acquired DryPatrol LLC, a Dayton, Ohio-based commercial mitigation and reconstruction services provider. The acquisition expands First Onsite's footprint and capabilities in the Midwest, adding DryPatrol's water mitigation, mold, fire and environmental remediation services; financial terms were not disclosed.

Great Lakes Grounds Management, a Lorain-based commercial landscaping company, has acquired Raymond's Landscaping of Amherst. The deal expands Great Lakes' presence in Northeast Ohio, adding Raymond's customer base and service capabilities including seasonal landscape maintenance and snow/ice removal.

Jones Lake Management (Jones Fish Hatcheries & Distributors, LLC), a Fort Point Capital-backed pond and lake management platform, has partnered with Flow Landscape & Aquatics to assume service of all of Flow Aquatics' pond and lake management customers. The transaction expands Jones Lake Management's presence and consolidates its coverage in Medina, Ohio; owner Michael Russell is transitioning his customers to Jones Lake Management.

O2 Investment Partners (through its portfolio company 4M Building Solutions) has made an investment in and partnered with Capital Services, a Columbus, Ohio-based janitorial and cleaning services provider. Terms were not disclosed; the deal expands 4M's footprint in central Ohio and brings Capital Services into 4M's platform following O2's prior investment in 4M.

ScaleCo Management LLC has made a platform investment in Safety Controls Technology (SCT), a Middleburg Heights, Ohio–based provider of occupational safety and health services. SCT founders remain involved (Joe Ventura continues as CEO), ScaleCo is adding its partner Donnie Bedney as SCT President, and the deal represents ScaleCo’s 23rd platform investment from Fund IV to support growth and scale operations.

Valicor Environmental Services, a platform company backed by Pritzker Private Capital, has acquired Clean Water Environmental from Hunting Dog Capital. The acquisition adds two centralized wastewater treatment facilities in Dayton, Ohio (processing ~25 million gallons annually), expanding Valicor's Ohio footprint and strengthening its wastewater treatment, recycling and solidification capabilities.

NorthStar Group, a portfolio company of investment affiliates of J.F. Lehman & Company, has completed the acquisition of Trans Ash Inc., a provider of coal combustion residual (CCR) remediation and related civil construction services. The add-on expands NorthStar's coal ash remediation capabilities and consolidates its position across deconstruction, nuclear decommissioning, and waste management services.

Jones Fish Hatcheries & Distributors, a Fort Point Capital portfolio company, has acquired Advanced Technical Aquatic Control (A.T.A.C.), a Cincinnati‑area provider of pond and lake management services. The deal deepens Jones Fish's presence in the Ohio Valley and adds recurring lake management programs, fountain/aerator sales and service, and local technical expertise to its platform.

Boston-based private equity firm Fort Point Capital has invested in Jones Fish Hatcheries & Distributors, a Cincinnati-headquartered provider of pond and lake management services, partnering with the company's management to build a platform for regional expansion and organic growth. The firm plans to support growth initiatives including geographic expansion and accretive add-on acquisitions; Barings provided debt financing and Kirkland & Ellis, RSM, and Andra Partners advised Fort Point.

Schill Grounds Management has acquired Enviroscapes, a family-owned commercial landscaping and snow/ice removal business based in Louisville, Ohio. The deal brings Enviroscapes' ~200 employees into Schill's platform (adding to Schill's ~400 staff) and expands Schill's footprint into the Akron/Canton and Youngstown markets as part of broader Midwest growth.

Synagro Technologies, Inc. has acquired LimeCorp, LTD, an Ohio-based provider of lime-residual management and land-application services. The deal expands Synagro's biosolids and residuals capabilities in Ohio and broadens its industrial and municipal customer base in the region.

Detroit-based private equity firm Rockbridge Growth Equity has acquired Columbus-based Radon Be Gone Inc. as the second add-on to its RB Home Services clean air and water treatment platform. The founders will remain as principals and Rockbridge intends to use the platform's marketing, technology and operational capabilities to expand Radon Be Gone's customer base across the U.S.

Schill Grounds Management, a portfolio company of Argonne Capital Group, has purchased the commercial division of The Ohio Valley Group in a carve-out add-on that expands Schill's service area to the east side of Cleveland. About a dozen commercial employees, equipment and use of a portion of The Ohio Valley Group's facilities will transfer to Schill while the Dangelos retain residential operations and pursue other ventures.

Warburg Pincus has agreed to acquire Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) from prior investor Soundcore Capital Partners; financial terms were not disclosed. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, SCA is the largest power sweeping company in the U.S. with more than 1,000 employees across 35 locations and the investment will be used to accelerate sales and marketing, expand service capacity, and pursue strategic acquisitions.

Farragut Capital Partners provided unitranche debt to Clean Water Environmental, LLC (CWE), an Ohio-based processor of hazardous and non-hazardous wastewater that operates facilities in Dayton and Mansfield, Ohio. The financing refinanced the balance sheet and supplies growth capital to fund a new biological treatment plant at CWE's Dayton location and expand overall capacity; CWE is a portfolio company of Hunting Dog Capital and is led by CEO John Staton.

Argonne Capital Group made a controlling investment in Schill Grounds Management, a commercial landscaping platform based in Cleveland, Ohio, providing shareholder liquidity while Jerry Schill remains CEO with a meaningful ownership stake. Proceeds also funded Schill's acquisition of McCoy Landscape Services in Marion, Ohio as the company's first tuck-in; Argonne and Schill plan further add-on acquisitions in the fragmented commercial landscaping market.

Evoqua Water Technologies (NYSE: AQUA) has acquired privately held Aquapure Technologies, a Hamilton, Ohio–based water service and equipment company. The deal expands Evoqua’s service capabilities and regional presence in Cincinnati and the surrounding region; terms were not disclosed.

Round Table Capital Partners (RTC) completed an acquisition of Hull & Associates, a Dublin, Ohio-based environmental and engineering consulting firm, to serve as the platform for RTC's new Environmental practice. Southfield Mezzanine provided unitranche debt and equity to support the transaction; management will remain involved with Craig Kasper moving to Executive VP and RTC naming Gerry Salontai to lead the platform.

Chemtron Corporation, a Kinderhook Industries portfolio company, has acquired Vexor Technology, LLC, a regional provider of non-hazardous waste processing and engineered fuel solutions. The deal is Chemtron's first add‑on acquisition and expands the platform's non‑hazardous waste processing and alternative energy capabilities across the Midwest.

Rosewood Private Investments announced that Superior Environmental Solutions (SES), a Rosewood-backed industrial services platform, has acquired Resource-One. Resource-One, founded in 1999 and headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, provides recycling, waste management and product-destruction services; the deal expands SES's capabilities and customer base across several industrial end markets.

SCA Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) has acquired Contract Sweepers & Equipment Company (CSE), a Columbus, Ohio-based power sweeping and property maintenance provider. The acquisition adds 105 employees and 110 trucks across Ohio and Huntington, West Virginia, expanding SCA's service footprint and strengthening its operations in the region.

Kinderhook Industries, a New York-based private investment firm, acquired Chemtron Corporation, a hazardous and non-hazardous waste management provider headquartered in Avon, Ohio, from Cleveland private equity firm CapitalWorks. Financial terms were not disclosed; Kinderhook said the acquisition expands its environmental services platform and adds Chemtron's diverse treatment, processing and railcar/ISO container capabilities to its portfolio.

Pete & Pete Container Services, Inc. has acquired Boyas Excavating, Inc., the largest privately held construction and demolition (C&D) landfill in Northeast Ohio. Brown Gibbons Lang & Company advised Pete & Pete on the transaction and financing was provided by Comerica Bank, Huntington Bank, and Ironwood Capital; terms were not disclosed. The deal creates a vertically integrated C&D platform serving Northeast Ohio.

Pritzker Private Capital has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Valicor Environmental Services from Wind Point Partners. Valicor, based in Monroe, Ohio, is a leading North American provider of non-hazardous wastewater treatment and related liquid-waste services serving over 5,000 customers; management will remain in place and the deal was expected to close in July 2019.

Rosewood Private Investments, the private investment arm of The Rosewood Corporation, recapitalized Superior Environmental Solutions (SES). SES founders Dean Wallace and Chester Yeager retained a significant ownership stake and will continue to lead the company; terms were not disclosed.
