Retail Acquisitions in Utah

My Salon Suite announced the acquisition and conversion of two independent salons in South Jordan and Draper, Utah into My Salon Suite franchise locations. The salons are now owned and operated by local entrepreneurs Mark and Krishelle Magee, expanding the brand’s presence in Utah and bringing the state to three My Salon Suite locations.

Ogden-based Fast Stop Travel Centers has acquired three gas stations in Ogden, Willard and Pleasant View, Utah from Willard-based retailer Trigon. The transactions, brokered by Mountain West Commercial Real Estate, are part of Fast Stop's ongoing expansion of its travel-center and convenience-store footprint across the Rockies.

CSC Generation Enterprise acquired Backcountry and its family of brands (MotoSport, Competitive Cyclist, Steep & Cheap), adding the specialty outdoor retailer to CSC’s multi-brand, digital-first platform. The deal is supported by a $112.0 million senior secured credit facility provided by Second Avenue Capital Partners, SB360 Capital Partners, and Ares Commercial Finance to refinance prior debt and support the acquisition.

Curaleaf Holdings, Inc. agreed to acquire Deseret Wellness in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at approximately US$20 million. The deal adds three medical cannabis dispensaries in Park City, Provo and Payson (combined annualized revenue ~$14 million), expanding Curaleaf’s Utah retail footprint to four dispensaries and its nationwide store count to about 150.

Camping World Holdings, Inc. agreed to acquire Carbon Emery RV, adding two dealership lots in Helper, Utah. The acquisition (expected to close in Q2 2023) increases Camping World's Utah footprint to six locations and strengthens its presence along a key national park corridor.

GrowGeneration Corp. acquired Horticultural Rep Group (HRG), a specialty horticultural sales and marketing organization based in Ogden, Utah. The acquisition strengthens GrowGeneration's product supply chain and expands distribution for its private label and partner SKUs while bringing HRG founder Keith Harrington into GrowGen leadership as Senior VP of Business Development.

Affiliates of White Brush Capital have recapitalized Weller Recreation, a powersports dealership based in Kamas, Utah. Lakeside Partners served as exclusive financial advisor to Weller Recreation and Delfino Madden served as legal counsel; the transaction provides liquidity/partnership for the Weller family to support future growth.

Park City-based ski boot retailer Surefoot, L.C. has acquired Los Angeles-based FrontRunners and New York City-based Super Runners Shops. The deal will relocate the acquired companies' headquarters to Surefoot's Park City offices and integrate Surefoot's custom footwear/orthotic technology into the running-store locations.

Camping World Holdings, Inc. has signed an agreement to acquire Nielson RV, including two dealership locations in St. George and Hurricane, Utah. The acquisition—expected to close in Spring 2021—expands Camping World's footprint in Utah to five locations and adds new and used RV sales, parts and service capabilities in the region.

RV Retailer, LLC, a Fort Lauderdale-based RV retail operator, acquired Sierra RV in the Salt Lake City market, marking RV Retailer’s first location in Utah and expanding its Western U.S. footprint. The acquisition adds a 90,000 sq. ft. flagship dealership with a 32-bay service center and roughly 80 employees to RV Retailer’s network of stores.

Logan, Utah-based Malouf has acquired Salt Lake City-headquartered retailer Downeast, combining Malouf’s bedding, home and wholesale capabilities with Downeast’s apparel retail footprint. The deal was completed after discussions that began in late 2019 and is intended to align product offerings, expand channels, and leverage technology and retail capabilities across both businesses.

Christy Sports LLC acquired Leisure Living, Inc., a Salt Lake City–based specialty outdoor furniture retailer, in a deal that closed on March 11, 2019. The acquisition expands Christy Sports’ summer/outdoor furniture business and strengthens its commercial presence in Utah; financial terms were not disclosed.
