Trucking & Fleet Acquisitions in 2024

Guardian Fleet Services, a West Palm Beach-based provider of towing, recovery and specialized transportation services, has acquired Isaacs Wrecker Service, a Tyler, Texas-based towing and specialized transportation operator. The deal expands Guardian's Texas footprint to 11 terminals, adds Isaacs' fleet and 75 employees, and strengthens the company's coverage along the I-20 corridor and East Texas markets.

Jackson Group Peterbilt has acquired Peterbilt of Wyoming — the four Peterbilt dealership locations in Casper, Rock Springs, Cheyenne, and Riverton — from brothers Fred and Bill DeVore. The transaction transfers the third-generation family business (founded 1949) into the Jackson Group's dealer network as part of its ongoing regional expansion.

Heniff Transportation Systems has acquired Janesville, Wisconsin–based Hagen Johnson Group, adding Hagen Johnson’s food-grade tank truck fleet, kosher tank-cleaning operation, and liquid freight brokerage to Heniff’s corresponding divisions. Terms were not disclosed; the deal excludes Reedsburg-based Korth Transfer. Heniff said the acquisition will support continued growth, technology investment and improved services for customers.

Nextran Truck Centers has acquired Quincy Mack, Decatur Mack, and H&L Mack, adding five dealership locations across Illinois, Missouri and Iowa and expanding Nextran’s footprint from 26 to 31 locations. The deal strengthens Nextran’s sales, parts, service and rental & leasing capabilities and reinforces its position as a leading Mack Trucks dealer in North America; the sellers were led by owner Jack Sharkey.

PS Logistics announced that its subsidiary Blair Logistics has acquired Fluker Transportation, a founder-owned flatbed and heavy-haul trucking company based in Hammond, Louisiana. The acquisition will fold Fluker into Blair Logistics to expand flatbed/heavy-haul capacity and geographic coverage across the southeastern United States; financial terms were not disclosed.

Midland-based Warrior Technologies has acquired Lobo Trucking, expanding its footprint into the Delaware Basin across Texas and New Mexico. The acquisition adds about 53 employees and 46 operating units, strengthens Warrior's vacuum-truck and remediation capabilities, and will keep Lobo operating under its existing brand from yards in Hobbs and Artesia, New Mexico.

Luxembourg-based investment firm LetterOne has made a significant growth investment in Dayim Middle East Holding Company (DMEH), a Saudi equipment and truck logistics & leasing group, to fund DMEH’s continued growth across Saudi Arabia and the broader GCC. The capital supports DMEH’s expansion across end markets such as oil & gas, infrastructure and logistics while helping LetterOne establish a longer-term presence in the region.

California Freight, a Ripon, California-based trucking company, has acquired Superior Truck Lines of Newman, California to strengthen its dairy transport capabilities across California's Central Valley. The deal preserves most of Superior's workforce (over 200 employees) and aims to expand California Freight's capacity and market presence in raw milk and dairy product logistics while facilitating a founder succession for the Amaral family.

Pronoss, LLC, an Oklahoma City-based specialty vehicle collision repair and remanufacturing provider, has acquired City Trailer Inc., a full-service truck and trailer sales, service, maintenance and distribution business based in Oklahoma City. The deal brings City Trailer's four-division, 45-acre operation into Pronoss's broader platform (CTPN Operating, LLC) to create a more fully integrated service offering for heavy vehicles and fleets; transaction terms were not disclosed.

Vehicle Management Solutions (VMS), a portfolio company of Mill Point Capital, has acquired All Area W&W Towing, a regional provider of municipal vehicle towing and recovery services based in Blue Island, Illinois. The add-on expands VMS' service footprint across the greater Chicago metro (including Harvey, Markham, Matteson and Sauk Village) and enhances its vehicle recovery, storage and traffic incident management capabilities.

EVO Transportation & Energy Services has acquired West Side Transport, a Midwest-based truckload carrier and brokerage that operates 550 trucks, 2,300 trailers and about 700 employees, to diversify EVO's customer mix beyond the U.S. Postal Service and increase density in the Midwest. The deal was financed with debt and equity from WhiteHawk Capital Partners and Antara Capital; Don Vogt will serve as a board adviser and West Side COO Ron Joseph has been promoted to president of the West Side division. Terms were not disclosed.

Kriete Truck Centers, a Milwaukee-based truck dealer group, has acquired La Crosse Truck Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The acquisition expands Kriete's ability to sell and service Mack and Isuzu trucks in the La Crosse and Mauston areas and will coincide with a major renovation of Kriete's existing La Crosse location.

Premier Truck Group, a Penske Automotive Group company, acquired River States Truck and Trailer, Inc., a La Crosse, Wisconsin-based commercial truck dealership and repair business. The deal adds five facilities across western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota, expands Premier's footprint into new markets, and is expected to contribute roughly $200 million of estimated annualized revenue.

Las Vegas-based Golden Triangle Ventures (GTVH) will acquire Cargo Management Group of Miami to expand its trucking, brokerage and last-mile logistics capabilities and support operations for its wholly owned subsidiary Lavish Entertainment. The deal (terms undisclosed) brings a specialized freight provider with gaming-industry contracts and roughly $3 million of 2023 revenue into GTVH's logistics division as an add-on.

Canada-based Trimac Transportation has acquired Feldspar Trucking Co., a Spruce Pine, North Carolina bulk-transport specialist. The deal expands Trimac’s U.S. footprint and strengthens its ability to service North Carolina’s mining and ceramics/glass industries; Feldspar’s roughly 60 drivers and remaining staff will be retained by Trimac.

TFI International has acquired Hercules Forwarding, a family-owned Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) carrier that operates a 31-terminal network across the U.S. and Canada. The bolt-on deal strengthens TFI's U.S. LTL footprint and cross-border capabilities by adding Hercules' fleet, terminals and expertise in US–Canada shipments.

Valley Equipment Ltd, a long-standing Canadian Utility dealer, has acquired Utility Trailers of New England, LLC, adding two locations in Seabrook, New Hampshire and North Oxford (Boston), Massachusetts to its network. The acquisition expands Valley Equipment's dealer and service footprint into the Northeastern United States and strengthens support for Utility Trailer and Cargobull North America products in the region.
