Doeren Mayhew entered the New York market through the acquisition of Rochester-based advisory firm 1RDG, effective January 20, 2026. The transaction also brings Bailey Carr CPAs (Rochester) and Bahgat & Laurito‑Bahgat CPAs (Fredonia) into Doeren Mayhew, adding more than 100 employees and seven partners and expanding the firm's audit, tax, outsourced accounting and advisory capabilities in key sectors such as construction, health care and real estate.

Strait Lane Capital Partners, a Dallas-based family-owned private investment firm, has acquired Makosi Audit and Tax LLC in a transaction funded with 100% equity from a Strait Lane-led group of investors. Makosi is a tech-enabled audit and accounting workforce solutions provider (founded in South Africa) that supplies South African Chartered Accountants to support primarily U.S.-based audits; Strait Lane says it will support Makosi’s continued growth and capability expansion.

Aiwyn has acquired Column Tax's tax technology and integrated key team members (including former Column Tax CEO Gavin Nachbar) to accelerate launch of Aiwyn Tax, a modern 1040 preparation engine. The move shortens Aiwyn's development timeline by leveraging Column Tax's proven platform (over 1M returns processed) and supports a pilot program seeking 100 accounting firms for the 2026 tax season.

Crete Professionals Alliance announced that Legacy Valuations & Forensics, LLC, a Hauppauge, New York-based valuation and forensic accounting firm, has joined the Crete network. The move brings valuation, forensic accounting and litigation support capabilities onto Crete's national platform while Legacy retains its name and leadership and gains access to Crete's enterprise services, AI tools and nationwide network.

Cohen & Co has acquired Gioffre & Company, LLP, a Westchester County, New York accounting firm founded by Anthony Gioffre; the transaction closed on August 8, 2025. Gioffre — a six-person firm providing outsourced accounting, financial reporting and tax services to public and large private clients — will expand Cohen & Co's CFO support, financial reporting and tax provision capabilities in the New York Tri-State region.

Armanino has welcomed the team from Strategic Accounting Outsourced Solutions (SAOS) into its firm, expanding Armanino's outsourced accounting and managed services capabilities with deep expertise in nonprofit and family office accounting. The SAOS team will leverage Armanino's broader resources, technology, and consulting services to enhance reporting automation and operational scale.

Rallyday Partners, a Denver-based private equity firm, has made a strategic growth investment in Insero Advisors, a Rochester-based accounting, tax, and advisory firm. The capital will be used to accelerate Insero's growth, expand advisory and technology-driven services, and support geographic and service-line expansion while maintaining its alternative practice structure.

Blackstone is acquiring a majority stake in US accounting firm Citrin Cooperman in a deal reported to value the firm at roughly $3.2 billion. The private equity firm will keep its economic stake below 50% through smaller investors to address regulatory concerns; Citrin Cooperman partners will roll over most of their ownership while realising some proceeds, and New Mountain Capital — the prior investor — will sell down its stake.

Summit Partners has made a strategic growth investment in UHY, providing the accounting and advisory firm with its first institutional capital to support continued expansion of its team, technology, and acquisition-driven growth. The capital will be used to accelerate organic growth, deepen client relationships, and expand UHY’s service capabilities across its U.S. network.

Investcorp, in partnership with PSP Investments, made a strategic growth investment in PKF O'Connor Davies to provide capital for accelerated growth, increased M&A activity, technology investment and expanded service offerings. PKF O'Connor Davies will continue operating its attest and advisory practices through existing licensed entities while leveraging the strengthened balance sheet and investor resources to pursue expansion.

Indianapolis-based Katz Sapper & Miller (KSM) has acquired New York City-based accounting firm Shanholt Glassman Klein Kramer & Co. (SGKK), adding 59 employees and six partners and increasing KSM's New York headcount to 87. The deal, which closed Thursday, expands KSM's New York footprint and makes that office its second-largest; financial terms were not disclosed.

CBIZ, Inc. has completed the acquisition of the non-attest business of Marcum LLP in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at approximately $2.3 billion, creating a combined organization with expected annualized revenue of about $2.8 billion. Concurrently, Marcum’s attest practice was transferred to an independent CPA firm (reported as Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C., which has since adopted the CBIZ CPAs P.C. name), and the deal expands CBIZ’s scale, service breadth and market position in accounting, tax, advisory and related professional services.

Citrin Cooperman has acquired Maier Markey & Justic LLP (MMJ), a White Plains, New York-based CPA firm, adding four partners and a team of professionals to expand its NYC metro footprint. The acquisition strengthens Citrin Cooperman's Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) capabilities and broadens its service offerings in outsourced accounting, controllership, CFO, HR, and tax services.

Hiline, a financial-operations-as-a-service provider, has acquired Calculate, a New York–based outsourced accounting and finance firm. The add-on expands Hiline's accounting, CFO/FP&A advisory, payroll and tax capabilities and broadens its client base and geographic footprint; Hiline is PE-backed following a prior investment from Red Iron Group.

McMillan Consulting LLC has acquired the Warwick, New York accounting practice of Paul Rafanello CPA. The combination expands McMillan Consulting's local accounting and financial consulting capabilities and ensures a planned transition as Paul Rafanello retires from active practice in 2024.

Armanino LLP announced that Janover, a New York-based CPA and advisory firm with about a 200-member team, is joining Armanino to deepen the firm's presence in the Tri-State/New York market. The deal integrates Janover's tax, accounting and consulting capabilities into Armanino's national service platform to expand geographic reach and client capabilities.

Ryan, a global tax services and software provider headquartered in Dallas, has acquired MJI Consulting Group, a property tax advisory firm serving Western New York and Connecticut. The acquisition adds experienced principal Paul Steimle to Ryan’s Property Tax practice and expands Ryan’s property tax capabilities and market coverage in New York and surrounding states.

Source Advisors, a Fort Worth-based specialized tax consulting firm backed by BV Investment Partners, has acquired PMBA, a New York–based business asset recovery and state and local sales tax consulting firm. The deal expands Source Advisors' service offering to include state and local tax and asset recovery capabilities, enabling a fuller suite of specialty tax solutions for CPA firms and corporate clients.

Menlo Park-based private investment firm Red Iron Group made a strategic growth investment in Graphite Financial, a New York-based provider of fractional finance and accounting services. Concurrently, Graphite acquired CPM Advisory Group and will combine CPM's business and team into Graphite to expand reporting, planning and analytics capabilities for its national client base.

Stenson Tamaddon has acquired Ilija Huljev and Huljev & Associates to expand its research and development (R&D) tax credit capabilities. Ilija Huljev joins Stenson Tamaddon as managing director of R&D tax services to help scale the firm's R&D tax offering and increase awareness of credits for small businesses nationwide.

New Mountain Capital made a majority investment in Citrin Cooperman to support the accounting and advisory firm's organic and acquisition-led growth. The partnership will provide Citrin Cooperman with capital and resources to expand services, pursue technology and advisory acquisitions, and grow its footprint across new markets.

TowerBrook Capital Partners has made a strategic growth investment in EisnerAmper, the global business advisory and CPA firm. The financing will support EisnerAmper's plans to accelerate service and technology development, invest in talent, and pursue targeted M&A; Deutsche Bank Securities acted as sole financial advisor and provided committed debt financing. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Affiliates of Newlight Partners LP have made an equity investment in Propeller Industries, a provider of financial management and accounting services for venture-stage companies. The growth investment will be used to accelerate organic growth, expand Propeller's technology platform, and support acquisitions; terms were not disclosed.
