Automotive Acquisitions in Missouri

Asbury Automotive Group sold six Plaza Motors luxury dealerships and the Plaza Collision Center in the St. Louis market to MileOne Autogroup; the transaction closed on Feb. 23. The Presidio Group advised Asbury on the divestiture. MileOne will retain the Plaza name and use the acquisition to expand its footprint into the St. Louis region with immediate scale across multiple luxury brands.

Bommarito Automotive Group has acquired David Taylor Ellisville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Ellisville, Missouri from owner David Taylor. The dealership will be renamed Bommarito Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and continue operating at its current location; Performance Brokerage Services served as the sell-side advisor.

GreatWater 360 Auto Care has entered the Missouri market by acquiring the three-location mechanical repair division of Complete Auto Body & Repair, expanding its national footprint to nine states and bringing its network closer to 150 locations. The deal covers only the mechanical repair operations (collision repair and towing remain independently owned) and preserves local leadership, branding, and staff while granting the shops access to GreatWater's training, operational support, and teammate benefits.

Dealer principal Evan Schipper purchased Gateway Harley-Davidson in St. Louis, Missouri from seller Matt Chiappetta and will consolidate it with Doc's Harley-Davidson under the new name St. Louis Harley-Davidson. Performance Brokerage Services advised the buyer on the transaction; the move is intended to consolidate the local market and expand Schipper's multi-dealership footprint.

Victory Automotive Group has acquired Weiss Toyota of South County in St. Louis, Missouri from partners John Weiss and John Capps. Haig Partners served as exclusive sell-side advisor; the dealership will be rebranded as Victory Toyota St. Louis as Victory expands its dealer footprint into Missouri.

Ed Morse Automotive Group has acquired Renegade Harley-Davidson, a dealership located at 3980 W. Sunshine Street in Springfield, Missouri, from H&H Automotive LLC. The purchase expands Ed Morse's Harley-Davidson portfolio and grows the group's footprint to 57 dealership locations and over 2,800 employees nationwide.

Telle Tire & Auto Centers acquired two-location Riechers Tire & Auto (a fourth-generation family business) in Washington, Missouri, with the deal effective July 1. Riechers will continue operating under its name, all employees are being retained, existing warranties honored and extended, and the acquisition expands Telle's footprint to 28 stores in the greater St. Louis area.

Audax Private Equity has made a growth investment in Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers, a St. Louis-based tire retailer and automotive aftermarket service provider with 43 stores and more than 650 employees across Missouri and Illinois. Audax will support Dobbs' organic growth as well as greenfield expansion and M&A as part of a buy-and-build strategy; terms were not disclosed.

Ed Morse Automotive Group has acquired Thomas Motors in Moberly, Missouri from owner Don Thomas; the location will be rebranded as Ed Morse Chevrolet Buick GMC. The acquisition adds roughly 20 employees, marks the company's 100th franchise and expands Ed Morse's presence in Missouri to nine dealerships (48 locations overall).

Camping World Holdings, Inc. announced it will acquire Youngblood RV in Springfield, Missouri, with the transaction expected to close in the first quarter of 2024. The acquisition adds 16 service bays and manufacturer lines (Grand Design and Forest River) and increases Camping World's Missouri dealership count to six as part of its broader store expansion plan.

Quality Collision Group (QCG), a private-equity-backed multisite OEM-certified collision repair platform, has acquired Schaefer Autobody Centers, a St. Louis-based operator of 14 collision repair locations. The deal integrates all 14 centers into QCG's national MSO footprint; owner Scott Schaefer will assume a larger role on QCG's executive team while Schaefer Autobody will retain its name at locations.

Club Car Wash has acquired eight express wash locations (plus a ninth under construction) from St. Louis-based Tidal Wave Express Car Wash, excluding three full‑service locations with convenience stores and fuel stations. The locations will be rebranded to Club Car Wash, expanding Club's St. Louis footprint to 23 sites; the transaction was completed in partnership with Wildcat Capital Management to support regional growth.

Toys for Trucks, a Midwest automotive accessories retailer, has acquired Vision Upfitters, a vehicle equipment and fleet upfitting provider based in Cameron, Missouri. The transaction, advised by Generational Equity, closed on March 1, 2022 and expands Toys for Trucks' geographic footprint and service capabilities in vehicle upfitting and accessories.

Storyteller Overland has acquired Global Expedition Vehicles (GXV), combining Storyteller's higher-volume production capabilities with GXV's custom expedition vehicle expertise. GXV will continue building custom rigs in Springfield, Missouri, while Storyteller will produce higher-volume Adventure Truck units in its expanded Birmingham, Alabama facilities; founders Mike and Rene' Van Pelt will remain involved in the combined business.

Ed Morse Automotive Group has acquired Lindsay Auto Group, which operates three dealerships in Lebanon and Saint Robert, Missouri. The dealerships (Lindsay Ford, Lindsay Chevrolet and Lindsay Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram) will be rebranded under the Ed Morse name and continue operating at their current locations following the sale by the Lindsay family, brokered by Performance Brokerage Services.

MobilityWorks (WMK, LLC), the nation's largest retailer of wheelchair-accessible vans, has acquired the Lee's Summit, Missouri retail location of Jay Hatfield Mobility. The deal marks MobilityWorks' first retail presence in Missouri and expands its network to 94 locations across 32 states, adding local sales, service and adaptive-equipment capabilities in the Kansas City area.

RV Retailer, LLC announced an agreement to acquire Lifestyle RVs in Grain Valley, Missouri, marking RV Retailer's first location in Missouri and its 35th store overall. The acquisition expands RV Retailer's presence in the Kansas City market and adds sales, service and parts capability; the deal was expected to close on October 30, 2020.

KAR Global (KAR) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire BacklotCars, a Kansas City–based dealer-to-dealer online wholesale vehicle marketplace, for $425 million. The acquisition expands KAR’s digital remarketing capabilities by adding BacklotCars’ 24/7 bid-ask marketplace, vehicle inspection services and AI-driven recommendations to KAR’s existing TradeRev and broader remarketing platform.

Nivel Parts & Manufacturing Co LLC (Nivel) has acquired Side By Side Stuff and its subsidiary Octane Ridge, bringing Nivel into the growing UTV aftermarket parts and accessories market. The deal combines Nivel’s distribution and manufacturing scale with Side By Side Stuff’s brand, marketing reach and e-commerce presence; Side By Side Stuff and Octane Ridge will operate as independent subsidiaries within Nivel Specialty Vehicles and Scott Harper will continue to lead the business.

Dealer Tire, backed by majority shareholder Bain Capital, has acquired Dent Wizard — North America's largest provider of automotive reconditioning services — from Gridiron Capital. Gridiron will reinvest alongside Bain, the Mueller family and Dent Wizard's management in the combined Dealer Tire / Dent Wizard aftermarket dealer services platform; financial terms were not disclosed.

Zips Car Wash acquired three store locations from Blue Iguana Car Wash in Kentucky and Indiana, adding two sites in Louisville, KY and one in Clarksville, IN. The deal expands Zips' footprint in the Louisville area and marks the company's first operation in Indiana, bringing Blue Iguana's local team into Zips' operations.
