Global Partner Acquisition Corp. (GPAC), a special purpose acquisition company, completed a business combination with Purple Innovation, LLC, taking the comfort-technology mattress and home goods company public in February 2018. The deal renamed GPAC to Purple Innovation, Inc. and listed the combined company's common stock and warrants on NASDAQ, providing Purple with access to public markets and growth capital.

Brooklyn Bedding and Helix Sleep Acquire Bear Mattress

Brooklyn Bedding and Helix Sleep (together the Brooklyn-Helix platform) have acquired Bear Mattress, a direct-to-consumer mattress brand focused on active lifestyles. The deal expands the Brooklyn-Helix DTC mattress platform and adds Bear's sleep-recovery product line and accessories to the combined group's vertically integrated manufacturing and digital capabilities.

Tempur Sealy Acquires Majority Stake in Sherwood Bedding

Tempur Sealy International agreed to acquire an approximately 80% stake in Sherwood Acquisition Holdings, LLC ("Sherwood Bedding") for about $40 million, financed with cash on hand and borrowing under existing credit facilities. The Ellman family will retain a 20% interest, and Sherwood Bedding will operate as a standalone business unit led by its current management to allow Tempur Sealy to enter the private-label/OEM bedding market and expand its product suite.

Tempur Sealy (Somnigroup) Acquires Mattress Firm

Tempur Sealy International, Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire Mattress Firm, the U.S.'s largest mattress specialty retailer, in a transaction first announced at an approximate $4.0 billion enterprise value and completed in February 2025 with a reported total purchase price of roughly $5.0 billion. The deal was funded with approximately $2.7 billion of cash and the issuance of 34.2 million Tempur Sealy shares; following closing Tempur Sealy renamed itself Somnigroup International and will operate Mattress Firm as a decentralized business unit while divesting a portion of retail locations and the Sleep Outfitters business to MW SO Holdings (Mattress Warehouse).

Blue Bell Mattress Acquires Wolf Corp.

Independent mattress manufacturer Blue Bell Mattress has acquired Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Wolf Corp., a vertically integrated bedding, futon and cotton batting producer, adding approximately 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The deal (terms undisclosed) includes the factory, intellectual property, trademarks and book of customers; Wolf's CEO Tony Wolf will remain as a consultant and the Indiana factory's 35 employees are expected to grow.

Bedding Industries of America Acquires Illinois Sleep Products

Bedding Industries of America (BIA) completed a majority acquisition of Illinois Sleep Products (ISP) on January 20, 2022. ISP's Chicago factory and its more than 100 employees will remain in place, be rebranded BIA Midwest, and will expand production of BIA's existing collections and the Harvest Green Mattress brand.
