Education Acquisitions in Washington

Busy Bees North America (BBNA) acquired thirteen early learning centers in the greater Seattle area — seven Kids N Us locations and six Birch Tree Academy locations — expanding BBNA’s U.S. footprint into Washington State. The deal adds roughly 380 educators and staff and more than 1,575 children and families to Busy Bees’ network, growing BBNA to about 270 centers across the United States and Canada.

360training.com, Inc. has acquired UST Training, a leading provider of state‑approved Class A/B and Class C online operator training for underground storage tank (UST) systems. The acquisition brings UST Training's Tank Savvy content and regulatory expertise onto 360training's platform to expand regulated EHS training offerings and accelerate growth in tank‑safety and fuel‑system compliance markets.

FullBloom, a Philadelphia-based child development platform, has acquired CharacterStrong, a national provider of school-based mental health curricula, resources, and training for K‑12 educators. The acquisition expands FullBloom's mental health capabilities and integrates CharacterStrong's curricula and team (including co-founder John Norlin, who will lead the new business) into FullBloom's mental health division to better support whole-child development in schools.

EnterOne, a Trainocate company based in Reston, Virginia, has acquired Bellevue-based TLG Learning to expand its vendor-certified IT training offerings and strengthen its U.S. West Coast presence. The deal enhances EnterOne's operations and sales capabilities while TLGITCareers.com was excluded from the transaction and remains with Technology Learning Group, Inc.

Runway Growth Capital committed $23 million in growth capital to Snap! Mobile to accelerate product development and expand the company's digital fundraising platform for schools, teams, and extracurricular organizations. The funding will be used to scale Snap!'s Snap! Raise platform and broaden its customer base across K‑12 athletics and activity programs.

Interplay Learning secured a growth investment from Goldman Sachs Alternatives and used part of the capital to acquire Industrial Training International (ITI). The transaction expands Interplay’s immersive skilled-trades training capability into crane and rigging/industrial training and adds Goldman Sachs representation to Interplay’s board.

Munetrix, a K-12 performance analytics provider, has completed a merger with Washington-based SchoolData Solutions to combine complementary education data and software offerings. The combined business will expand Munetrix's suite with SchoolData's academic, assessment and operational tools, extending market reach and accelerating product development while both brands continue to operate.

Emler Swim School acquired Discover Aquatics of Olympia, Washington, adding the 45th Emler-branded location and marking Emler's first facility in the state of Washington. Discover Aquatics was founded and operated for 21 years by Holly and Brian Nichols, who will transition the location to Emler.

Discovery Education, a Clearlake Capital–backed global edtech company, agreed to and completed the acquisition of DreamBox Learning, a Bellevue-based PK–12 adaptive learning platform serving more than 6 million students and 600,000 educators. The deal (terms undisclosed) brings DreamBox’s adaptive math and reading technology into Discovery Education’s suite to expand product capabilities and reach; DreamBox investors Elliott Investment Management and TPG’s The Rise Fund will retain minority stakes.

Triumph Higher Education Group has acquired Medical Marijuana 411 (MM411), a leading online provider of medical cannabis education and certification, and added it to Triumph Health and Wellness LLC. MM411's founder and CEO Christine DeVol will continue in her role and serve as President of Cannabis Education for Triumph as the company expands its health and wellness education and compliance offerings.

Study.com has acquired Enhanced Prep, a virtual one-to-one and small-group tutoring and test-preparation provider. The acquisition will integrate Enhanced Prep's personalized tutoring and drop-in Virtual Village with Study.com's online learning platform to expand high-impact tutoring offerings to students and schools nationwide.

KnowFully Learning Group, a NexPhase Capital-backed provider of continuing professional education, acquired MasterCPE, an online self-study CPE course provider for accounting and finance professionals. The acquisition expands KnowFully's accounting and finance portfolio by adding a subscription-based, on-demand library of CPE courses approved across all 50 states.

Evergreen Coast Capital Corp., Elliott Investment Management’s technology-focused affiliate, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in DreamBox Learning. TPG’s The Rise Fund will retain a significant minority stake as DreamBox — a Bellevue-based K-12 adaptive learning provider on track for more than $100 million in revenue — prepares for the next phase of growth and product expansion.

Fiverr has acquired Seattle-based online learning platform CreativeLive to expand its professional education offerings. CreativeLive will remain a standalone organization in Seattle with founder Chase Jarvis continuing as CEO, and Fiverr will fold its Fiverr Learn content into CreativeLive to scale learning for freelancers and businesses.

Edmentum has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Apex Learning, a Seattle-based provider of digital curriculum and virtual learning for middle and high school students. The acquisition expands Edmentum's K-12 product suite—adding Apex's credit-bearing courses and virtual learning capabilities—and follows prior investment in Edmentum by The Vistria Group; Apex's prior investor Education Growth Partners was noted in the announcement.

Minneapolis-based VNN acquired Lynden, Washington–based Washington Prep Athletics Network (WPA Network), the leading provider of high school athletic websites, scheduling and data-management tools in Washington State. The deal expands VNN's footprint in K–12 athletics, connecting dozens of Washington leagues and hundreds of high schools to VNN's national platform and combining complementary product and services capabilities.

TransACT Communications, a Lynnwood, Washington-based SaaS provider of parent engagement, compliance and payment solutions for K-12 and higher education, received a strategic growth investment from the Polaris Growth Fund (an affiliate of Polaris Partners). PGF partners Dan Lombard and Sabrina Chiasson McLaughry will join TransACT's board; the capital is intended to support product innovation, accelerate growth, and enable strategic acquisitions.
