Environmental Services Acquisitions in North Carolina

Liberty Waste Solutions, a North Carolina waste and recycling provider backed by Allied Industrial Partners, has acquired AJ Disposal, a residential and commercial front-load operator based in Asheboro, North Carolina. The add-on expands Liberty's footprint in the Asheboro and greater Greensboro markets; financial terms were not disclosed.

Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund completed the acquisition of Polytec, Inc., a southeastern U.S. turnkey water treatment solutions provider, for US$150 million. The deal expands Chemtrade's water-treatment chemicals platform by adding Polytec's service capabilities, products and end-market access (municipal and food-processing) to support cross-selling and Vision 2030 growth targets.

Landscape Workshop, a commercial landscape maintenance platform backed by Ares Management Corporation, has acquired Live Oak Landscape, LLC to expand its Charlotte, North Carolina presence. Live Oak owner Matt Kaylor and all Live Oak employees will join Landscape Workshop as part of the add-on acquisition, supporting LW's broader expansion across the Southeastern U.S.

Hatcher Landscape Partners (HLP), a newly formed commercial landscape platform backed by Walnut Grove Capital Partners, has acquired GreenView Partners, a Raleigh-based commercial landscape services firm. The deal brings GreenView into HLP alongside Michael Hatcher & Associates to expand service capabilities and geographic reach across the Southeastern United States.

Denali, the nation’s largest organic recycling company, has acquired Wallace Farm, Inc., a family-owned composting, soil and mulch products company that operates two large-scale facilities in North Carolina. The deal adds organics processing capacity in the Southeast to support expanded production and distribution of Denali’s soil products and strengthens its network of composting sites across the U.S.

Earth Systems, a PE-backed environmental consulting platform, has acquired Spangler Environmental, an environmental and risk management consulting firm serving the Carolinas and Florida. Backed by Palm Beach Capital, the deal expands Earth Systems' geographic footprint and enhances its environmental and ecological capabilities for development, infrastructure, and government clients.

Republic Services, Inc. has acquired Shamrock Environmental, a vertically integrated industrial waste and wastewater services platform headquartered in Browns Summit, North Carolina. The seller was CenterOak Partners (CenterOak Equity Fund I), marking the final exit from Fund I; financial terms were not disclosed.

Meridian Waste North Carolina LLC, a business unit of Meridian Waste, acquired the assets of Foothill Waste Solutions LLC of Sandy Ridge, North Carolina. The deal expands Meridian's footprint in the Research Triangle region by adding commercial frontload, roll-off and residential hauling routes plus a hauling facility and transferred staff to Meridian operations.

Comvest Private Equity has completed a recapitalization of Bland Landscaping, a regional commercial landscaping services provider headquartered in Apex, North Carolina. Prospect Partners has exited its investment; Bland will continue to be led by CEO Kurt Bland and CFO/COO Matt Bland as Comvest supports further organic and acquisitive growth.

Atlantic OBX, Inc. acquired McCall Environmental Inc., which does business as Site Services, a dumpster rental and waste-hauling operator in the Outer Banks. The deal, which closed December 6, 2024, was led by Lakeside Acquisitions on behalf of Site Services and will expand Atlantic OBX's waste offerings and geographic density across eastern North Carolina and into Virginia; financial terms were not disclosed.

RF Investment Partners has acquired Rent-A-John, a family-owned portable sanitation provider based in Wilmington, North Carolina, as the first platform investment in a newly formed portable sanitation platform. RF will work with appointed CEO James Murphy and the Edwards family to grow the business organically and via tuck-in acquisitions across the Southeast.

Pest & Termite Consultants announced the acquisition/strategic partnership with NC Pest Control to expand its service footprint in the Raleigh–Durham area. The deal brings NC Pest Control's Fuquay‑Varina operations and owner Mike Fillion into the Pest & Termite Consultants platform to increase geographic coverage and operational efficiency for residential and commercial pest services.

Turf Masters Brands, a CenterOak Partners-backed residential lawn care platform, acquired Fairway Green and also added Mighty Green Lawn Care Services, Perfectly Green Lawn Care, and MRW Lawns, Inc. to its platform. The transactions expand Turf Masters' footprint across the Southeast (notably doubling presence in North Carolina) and add nearly 200 team members to the platform; terms were not disclosed.

Concentric Equity Partners (the direct investing arm of Financial Investments Corporation) completed a recapitalization of Aruza Pest Control, a Charlotte-based provider of residential and commercial pest, termite, and mosquito control services. CEP is partnering with Aruza co-founder and CRO Christian Ludwig (who retains a significant stake) and CEO Andrew Beck to scale the company into a super-regional pest control platform across the Southeast.

Allied Industrial Partners LLC completed a recapitalization investment in Wall Recycling, LLC, a Raleigh-based provider of waste hauling, disposal and recycling services. Wall Recycling (which later rebranded to Liberty Waste Solutions) will remain led by founder and CEO Dan Wall and will use the partnership to support growth, operational enhancements and buy-and-build expansion.

Eagle Merchant Partners, an Atlanta-based private equity firm, has made a growth investment in Enviro-Master Services, a Charlotte-based franchisor of deep cleaning, sanitation and disinfection services. The capital will support scaling the franchise system — which serves tens of thousands of businesses across North America and operates nearly 90 locations — to meet increased demand for health and safety services.

International private equity firm Cinven has acquired Bayer's Environmental Science Professional business for $2.6 billion. The carved-out business, headquartered in Cary, North Carolina and operating as Envu with nearly 900 employees, will run as an independent platform focused on pest management, vector control and vegetation management while Bayer uses proceeds to reduce net debt.

Bland Landscaping Company, Inc., a leading North Carolina commercial landscape services provider based in Apex, has acquired Turf Service Inc. (TSI) of Greensboro, North Carolina. TSI, founded in 1979 and led by Ray Comer and Greg Blaser, provides full-service commercial landscape maintenance across the Greensboro and Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill areas; the acquisition gives Bland a leading branch location in Greensboro and expands its footprint across the Triangle region.

Duke's Root Control, a portfolio company of Altamont Capital Partners, has acquired Hydrostructures, P.A., a regional wastewater and sewer services/engineering provider with offices across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The acquisition expands Duke's service capabilities, regional presence and supports its Duke's360 smart wastewater strategy by integrating Hydrostructures' field services and engineering expertise.

DXP Enterprises, Inc. (NASDAQ: DXPE) completed the acquisition of Premier Water, a Charlotte-based distributor and service provider focused on the water and wastewater treatment markets in North and South Carolina. Financial terms were not disclosed; Premier operates a single location with approximately 6 employees and reported roughly $3.6 million in sales and $850 thousand of adjusted EBITDA.

Mosaic Capital Partners announced an investment in the newly formed Zero Waste Recycling ESOP, enabling employee ownership while providing capital to support growth. Financial partners on the transaction included Lafayette Square, Morgan Stanley Private Credit and Impact Engine; CEO Will Simmons will continue to lead the business from its two processing facilities in Charlotte, North Carolina and Lancaster, South Carolina.

Susquehanna Private Capital (SPC) announced an investment in Authority Franchise Systems (Mosquito Authority), a Hickory, North Carolina-based franchisor of mosquito, pest and tick control services. Terms were not disclosed; SPC said it will support growth by building a multi-branded franchisor and expanding services and geographic reach across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada.

BMS CAT (Blackmon Mooring & BMS CAT) has acquired Diamond Restoration, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based restoration services provider. The former owners, Carol Fannon and Zach Fisher, will remain with the business to assist integration as BMS CAT expands its local footprint and response capabilities in the Charlotte market.

Meridian Waste has closed the acquisition of the equity interests in the Shotwell Companies — including Shotwell Landfill Inc., several transfer station entities and associated hauling and commercial contracts — expanding Meridian’s operations into the greater Raleigh, North Carolina market. The deal, terms private, marks Meridian Waste’s first acquisition in North Carolina and its 11th since going private under Warren Equity Partners.

Bland Landscaping Company, a North Carolina full‑service commercial landscaping provider based in Apex, has acquired Landmark Landscape Services of Huntersville, North Carolina. The deal adds a key branch location north of Charlotte and expands Bland's maintenance and irrigation capabilities and regional footprint.

New Capital Partners (NCP), a Birmingham-based private equity firm, has partnered with SMR Worldwide, an IT asset disposition (ITAD) and e-waste solutions provider headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. The investment will support SMR's (rebranded later as Sprout) expansion of facilities, rollout of new software-driven solutions, and capability growth to serve enterprise customers.
