IT Services Acquisitions in South Carolina

Cantey Tech Consulting, a Charleston-based managed service provider (MSP), has acquired the assets of SmartTech Consulting of Boiling Springs, South Carolina. The deal expands Cantey Tech’s footprint in the Carolinas and augments service capabilities — particularly security and support — for SmartTech’s small and mid-market clients.

Fort Point Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm, has acquired NewBold Corporation, a Greenville, South Carolina-based provider of managed technology services for POS, AIDC and payment devices. Brookside Capital Partners provided subordinated debt and an equity co-invest to support the transaction, while Old Second National Bank and Brookside Mezzanine provided debt financing; terms were not disclosed.

Cantey Tech Consulting, a Charleston-based IT managed service provider, has acquired the assets of Unified Network Group (UNG), an MSP based in Boiling Springs, South Carolina. The deal expands Cantey Tech's presence in South Carolina and adds UNG's client base and capabilities—particularly around security—into Cantey Tech's larger MSP platform.

Columbus-based Codex IT has acquired Practical Systems, LLC, a computer infrastructure support company headquartered in Cayce, South Carolina. The acquisition expands Codex IT's national footprint in healthcare-focused managed IT services and strengthens its presence and support capabilities in South Carolina.

The 20 MSP, a national managed service provider based in Plano, Texas, has acquired Integrated Technology Services (ITS), an MSP headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina. The add-on deal expands The 20's national footprint, broadens its cloud and cybersecurity capabilities, and continues its aggressive roll-up strategy of independent MSPs.

CloudScale365 has acquired Priorpoint, a Myrtle Beach-based managed cloud and on-premises IT services provider. The deal expands CloudScale365's regional data center footprint and strengthens its managed cloud, hosting, security, and business continuity offerings for clients in the Southeastern United States.

Calgary-based VistaVu Solutions acquired ResolvIT SC, LLC, a Cayce, South Carolina SAP Business One channel partner, to deepen its SAP Business One capabilities and expand mid-market ERP services. The transaction brings ResolvIT's ERP and industry expertise (including three Business One experts) into VistaVu's mid-market SAP practice and appoints ResolvIT CEO Mark Burt as Vice President Sales for Business One.

An affiliate of Variant Equity Advisors has acquired CompuCom from The ODP Corporation. The transaction is a corporate divestiture that positions Variant to enter the managed services/digital workplace market and provides CompuCom with resources to expand its service offerings and market leadership.

Accenture has acquired Advoco, a leading systems integrator for Infor EAM, to scale its intelligent asset management capabilities within Accenture Industry X. The Advoco team of over 100 asset management professionals will join Accenture and its Greenville, South Carolina office will serve as a center of excellence; terms were not disclosed.

LNC Partners, a Northern Virginia-based private equity firm, has made a significant investment in Cantey Tech Consulting, an IT managed service provider headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina. The capital will support Cantey Tech's growth strategy — including pursuing add-on acquisitions across the southeastern United States — while Willis Cantey remains CEO.

Nautic Partners, a Providence-based private equity firm, has acquired VC3, Inc., a Columbia, South Carolina–based managed IT services provider, from WestView Capital Partners. VC3 specializes in managed desktop hosting, remote managed services, cybersecurity and application development with a strong focus on local government and mid-market commercial customers.

Novatech, a nationwide Managed Office provider and a portfolio company of Trivest Partners, has acquired United Laser, a Florence, South Carolina–based managed print services provider. United Laser will operate as a division within Novatech, maintaining its headquarters and management team while expanding Novatech's managed print capabilities nationwide as an add-on to its portfolio.

DFW Capital Partners completed an investment in IntelliSite Corporation, a provider of IoT-enabled surveillance, monitoring and computer-vision solutions. The investment will support IntelliSite’s service capability expansion and growth (including potential acquisitions) and coincides with the appointment of Ken Mills as CEO.

NewBold Corporation, a Stonewood Capital portfolio company, has acquired National Service Center (NSC) from Illinois Tool Works. NSC, based in Greenville, South Carolina, provides nationwide point-of-sale field repair, managed services and professional services to multi-unit retail and restaurant operators. The transaction expands NewBold's service capabilities and national footprint in POS and in-store technology for multi-unit operators.
