Acquisitions in New Mexico in 2024

Inszone Insurance Services has acquired Coe Agency, LLC, an independent insurance agency specializing in health and benefits, to strengthen Inszone's presence in New Mexico and expand its employee benefits capabilities. The Coe Agency team in Rio Rancho will join Inszone's Albuquerque office, allowing clients to retain continuity while gaining access to Inszone's national carrier network.

Ridgewood Infrastructure has acquired Valley Cold Storage & Transportation, a New Mexico–based provider of temperature-controlled storage and logistics services, to support the company’s continued expansion into existing and new markets. Citizens served as exclusive financial advisor to Ridgewood and Kirkland & Ellis represented Ridgewood on the transaction.

Inszone Insurance Services has acquired the existing insurance book of business from Sandia Area Federal Credit Union and established a long-term partnership to serve Sandia Area members. The deal will expand Inszone's footprint in New Mexico and provide Sandia Area members access to a broader range of personal, commercial, and benefits insurance products with a seamless transition of existing policies.

Community Tree Service, a Hastings Equity Partners-backed vegetation management platform, has acquired Southwest Contracting & Associates, a Capitan, New Mexico-based tree thinning and trimming provider. The acquisition expands CTS's operations into the Southwestern U.S. and diversifies its customer base with additional state and federal agency relationships.

Midland-based Warrior Technologies has acquired Lobo Trucking, expanding its footprint into the Delaware Basin across Texas and New Mexico. The acquisition adds about 53 employees and 46 operating units, strengthens Warrior's vacuum-truck and remediation capabilities, and will keep Lobo operating under its existing brand from yards in Hobbs and Artesia, New Mexico.

U.S. Retirement & Benefits Partners (USRBP) has acquired Pension Planning Consultants (PPC), a retirement plan third-party administrator based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The deal expands USRBP's Southwest footprint and adds PPC's retirement plan administration and consulting capabilities to USRBP's national partner network.

GroundWork Renewables has acquired CFV Solar Test Laboratory to add PV module performance, reliability testing and resilience services to its utility-scale solar meteorological data offerings. The acquisition will integrate lab-based module testing with GroundWork’s MET datasets to provide owners, developers and EPCs enhanced performance modeling and risk evaluation services; terms were not disclosed.

Inszone Insurance Services, a Sacramento-based full-service insurance brokerage, has acquired Blue Chip Insurance, a long-established independent agency in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from Jay and Jane Winter. The deal expands Inszone's footprint in the Southwest and brings additional carrier access and resources to Blue Chip's clients.

SAM, a provider of spatial data and managed geospatial services, has acquired Construction Survey Technologies, Inc. (CSTi), a geospatial services and facilities/asset management firm based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The acquisition strengthens SAM's capabilities in geomatics, data visualization, subsurface mapping, and expands its presence in the Southwestern U.S.

Bernhard Capital Partners has agreed to acquire New Mexico Gas Company (NMGC) from Emera Inc. for an aggregate transaction value of $1.252 billion USD, including assumption of approximately $500 million of debt. The deal, subject to New Mexico Public Regulation Commission approval and HSR clearance, is expected to close in late 2025 and supports Emera's portfolio optimization while giving BCP a regulated utility platform investment in New Mexico.

Standard Solar has acquired the 4.98-megawatt Bent Bow Community Solar project in Doña Ana County, New Mexico from developer Energy Management, Inc. The ground-mount project, developed by EMI beginning in 2021, is expected to be completed in late 2025 and will dedicate at least 30% of output to low-income subscribers under New Mexico's Community Solar Act.

Platte River Equity portfolio company Municipal Emergency Services, Inc. (MES) has acquired Firefighter Trucks, Inc., a Las Cruces, New Mexico-based distributor and servicer of fire apparatus. The add-on expands MES’s geographic coverage and product offering in the first-responder market, broadening MES’s ability to serve fire departments in New Mexico and Colorado.

Energy Systems Group (ESG) has acquired Yearout Energy Services to expand its national footprint and strengthen its service offerings in the Southwest, including Texas, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Yearout’s management, led by President Colby Geer, will remain in place as part of ESG’s leadership team to accelerate growth and deliver expanded design-build, energy-efficiency, distributed generation and O&M services to public and private sector clients.

IT Solutions Consulting, a Philadelphia-area managed service provider, has acquired Steady Networks, a Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico-based IT services firm that serves SMBs in the legal, medical and government contractor markets. The deal expands IT Solutions' footprint into New Mexico and strengthens its capabilities serving government, legal and healthcare verticals; financial terms were not disclosed.

US LBM has acquired RAKS Building Supply, a family-owned building materials distributor and truss manufacturer headquartered in Los Lunas, New Mexico. The deal adds five locations (including an 11-acre yard and a truss manufacturing plant) to US LBM’s network, expanding its presence in key Albuquerque-area housing markets while RAKS’ leadership will remain in day-to-day operations.

RWC Building Products has acquired New Mexico Plaster and Supply, a plaster, stucco and concrete materials supplier based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, effective May 1, 2024. The deal makes New Mexico Plaster a wholly owned subsidiary and expands RWC's stucco product capabilities and geographic footprint in New Mexico.

Easy Ice, a nationwide provider of managed commercial ice machine rentals, has acquired Iceworks, LLC, a New Mexico-based commercial ice machine service provider that has served Albuquerque and Santa Fe for 10 years. The deal expands Easy Ice's footprint and density in the Southwest and will transition Iceworks’ customers and operations to Easy Ice’s managed rental platform.

Bernhard Capital Partners’ dedicated Department of Energy (DOE) services platform has acquired Strategic Management Solutions, LLC (SMSI), a provider of program management, engineering and technical consulting services to DOE, NNSA, national laboratories and industrial nuclear clients. SMSI — founded in 1999 and headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico with over 400 employees — will continue to be led by its current management while joining Bernhard’s DOE/NNSA services platform to expand mission-critical capabilities and vertical integration across government nuclear and environmental programs.

CraneTech has acquired Twin City Crane & Hoist, a small Anthony, New Mexico-based crane and hoist service provider that has served the El Paso, Texas market for over 20 years. The deal brings Twin City’s five employees into CraneTech as the owner, Matt Berryman, retires; CraneTech said the acquisition expands its footprint in the Southwest United States and strengthens service coverage near El Paso/West Texas.

2AutoGroup purchased Enchanted Mazda in Santa Fe, New Mexico from Sonic Automotive; the dealership will operate as Santa Fe Mazda. The transaction was facilitated by Pinnacle Mergers & Acquisitions and marks 2AutoGroup’s first store outside Colorado as it expands into the Santa Fe market.

Chenega’s Security Strategic Business Unit has acquired E&M International (EMI), an Albuquerque-based provider of fire alarm systems, mass notification, emergency communications and clean agent fire suppression technologies, for an undisclosed sum. The deal expands Chenega SSBU’s fire and emergency services capabilities to better serve existing and future (including federal) customers.

Netsurit, a New York–headquartered managed service provider, has acquired iTEAM Consulting, LLC, an Albuquerque-based MSP that serves small and medium businesses across New Mexico. The deal expands Netsurit’s U.S. footprint into the Southwest, strengthens its managed services and Microsoft-focused capabilities, and brings iTEAM’s leadership and technical team into the Netsurit organization.

Avenu Insights & Analytics, a portfolio company of Arlington Capital Partners, has acquired Finvi's State & Local Government Division (Finvi SLG), a provider of court case management, collections workflow and integrated electronic payments software. The acquisition, announced January 17, 2024, is an add-on to Avenu aimed at expanding its court system and payment capabilities for state and local government customers; financial terms were not disclosed.

Rosewood Private Investments has acquired Herbs, Etc., a Santa Fe-based manufacturer and marketer of herbal supplements led by CEO Daniel Gagnon. The acquisition brings Herbs' liquid tincture and soft-gel product portfolio and DTC/Amazon channels into Rosewood’s health & wellness investment focus to support product innovation and market expansion.
