Logistics & Distribution Acquisitions in 2016

General Logistics Systems (GLS), the European parcel services business owned by Royal Mail plc, has acquired Golden State Overnight (GSO) from private equity owner The Halifax Group for an enterprise value of $90 million. GSO, a Pleasanton, California–based overnight parcel carrier operating from 36 facilities across the Western U.S., will keep its existing management team in place following the transaction.

American Fast Freight, a portfolio company owned by The Resolute Fund II (managed by The Jordan Company), has acquired Global Transportation Services, Inc., a Kent, Washington–based freight forwarding and 3PL provider. GTS will operate as a subsidiary of AFF with Jason Totah remaining as President and reinvesting in AFF; the deal expands AFF’s geographic footprint and creates a broader global logistics platform.

Jin Jiang International Holdings Co., Ltd., through its subsidiary Balance Global Limited, has completed the acquisition of YRC Worldwide Inc.'s 50% interest in JHJ International Transportation Co., Ltd., giving Jin Jiang 100% ownership of JHJ. The deal represents YRCW's divestiture of a non-core international asset and strengthens Jin Jiang's transport and logistics capabilities in China.

Celadon Group, a publicly traded North American trucking and logistics company, has acquired Distribution, Inc., d.b.a. FTL, a regional trucking/transportation provider owned by Todd Harman. The deal is positioned to expand Celadon’s geographic footprint and trucking capabilities by integrating FTL’s management team and customer relationships into Celadon’s network.
