AI & Machine Learning Acquisitions in Utah

Motorola Solutions has acquired Salt Lake City–based Blue Eye, an AI-driven enterprise remote video monitoring provider, to strengthen its intelligent security and incident-response offerings. The deal will integrate Motorola Solutions' AI capabilities with Blue Eye's RVM platform and SOC services to accelerate proactive threat detection, verification and automated response across key enterprise markets.

Sorenson, a leading provider of communications solutions for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people, acquired OmniBridge (an Intel internal venture) and Brazilian AI sign-language translation company Hand Talk to accelerate development of automated sign-language translation capabilities. The deals add complementary AI recognition and avatar-based generation technologies and teams to Sorenson’s existing video-relay and interpretation platform to expand its AI-driven accessibility offerings.

Gideon Taylor Consulting, LLC has acquired IntraSee, Inc., including Ida Artificial Intelligence, Inc., bringing the Ida conversational AI digital assistant and IntraSee's enterprise UX capabilities into Gideon Taylor's product and services portfolio. The deal positions Gideon Taylor to embed conversational AI into enterprise suites like PeopleSoft and Oracle Fusion Cloud to improve usability for employees and students.

Qlik has acquired Big Squid, a provider of no-code automated machine learning, to embed AutoML-driven predictive analytics, key-driver analysis and what-if scenario planning into Qlik's augmented analytics and Qlik Cloud. The acquisition expands Qlik's SaaS roadmap and Active Intelligence vision by enabling non-data-scientists to deploy API-accessible predictive models directly within Qlik; terms were not disclosed.

ThayerMahan, a maritime technology company headquartered in Groton, Connecticut, has acquired Wingman Defense, an artificial intelligence startup based in Park City, Utah. The deal brings Wingman's AI/ML capabilities into ThayerMahan's autonomous maritime sensor and data platform to enhance maritime domain awareness for government and commercial customers.

Boathouse Capital has completed a growth investment in Finch, a Salt Lake City–based paid digital media automation platform that leverages AI and machine learning to optimize paid search, display and shopping advertising. The capital will be used to drive sales and marketing and support general growth; Boathouse partner Bill Dyer will join Finch’s board to help scale the business.
