Renewable Energy Acquisitions in Maryland

ALLETE, Inc. (NYSE:ALE) has closed its acquisition of New Energy Equity, a distributed and community solar developer based in Annapolis, Maryland, for approximately $165.5 million. New Energy Equity has completed more than 250 distributed solar projects totaling over 330 MW and brings a ~2 GW development pipeline across 26 states; the company's management team and headquarters will remain in place.

Enviva Partners, LP completed a GP buy-in acquiring 100% of Enviva Holdings, LP and eliminated its incentive distribution rights (IDRs) in exchange for 16 million EVA common units (approx. $870 million based on a 20‑day VWAP). The transaction simplifies the corporate structure, enables a planned conversion from an MLP to a C‑Corp (Enviva Inc.), and is intended to lower Enviva’s cost of capital, expand its investor base, and retain incremental cash flow for growth.

Bioenergy DevCo, a developer and operator of anaerobic digestion facilities, received a $106 million minority growth investment from Newlight Partners LP. The capital will be used to expand Bioenergy DevCo's operational footprint across North America to build and operate additional renewable natural gas and organics-recycling facilities.
