Agriculture Acquisitions in Alabama

PRT Growing Services Ltd. has acquired International Forest Company (IFCO), combining their nursery and seed orchard networks to create the largest reforestation seedling platform in North America. IFCO's CEO Patrick Mobley will remain involved as an investor and special advisor while IFCO's executive team stays on to support growth and expanded capacity.

Patten Seed Company (doing business as Super-Sod), a Heartwood Partners–backed platform, completed an add-on acquisition of Frog Pond Turf in Opelika, Alabama in December 2021. The acquisition expands Super-Sod's sod-growing footprint into Alabama (Auburn, Montgomery and Birmingham markets), preserves local management (Brad Baker remains farm manager), and increases supply of Bermudagrass and Zoysiagrass while enabling Super-Sod to introduce products and services such as Soil³ compost and the Lawn Coach subscription in the region.
