Education Acquisitions in Alabama

Big Blue Marble Academy, a portfolio company of Avathon Capital, has acquired Odyssey Early Schools, a premium early childhood education provider based in Birmingham, Alabama. The transaction brings Odyssey into BBMA’s platform of early care and preschool centers and was advised by Founders Advisors; Odyssey was owned by Bob Mitchell and his family.

iCEV has acquired the K-12 and post-secondary digital curriculum assets of Today's Class, adding Automotive and Cosmetology courses to its Career & Technical Education (CTE) platform. The deal is an add-on to iCEV’s platform following a strategic investment from The Riverside Company, which backs iCEV to expand its digital curriculum and certification offerings.

Gryphon Investors has made a majority investment in Meazure Learning, a Birmingham, Alabama–based provider of remote exam proctoring, assessment software, and psychometric services. Existing sponsor Eastside Partners and Meazure management retain meaningful stakes, and Bain Capital Credit provided senior credit facilities to support Gryphon's investment to accelerate Meazure's growth.
