Cloud & SaaS Acquisitions in 2016

Nexonia and Tallie announced a merger to combine their time and expense management platforms, creating a leading independent provider of cloud-based expense and time tracking solutions. The combined company will operate across offices in Canada and the United States and aims to expand product capabilities and integrations with major ERPs and accounting platforms.

HID Global, an ASSA ABLOY Group brand, has acquired Bluvision, a Bluetooth Low Energy provider for enterprise IoT, to expand its real-time location, asset-tracking and cloud-based IoT capabilities. The transaction closed December 1, 2016; financial terms were not disclosed and Bluvision will continue operations in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Cendyn has acquired Guestfolio Communications, a CRM marketing platform focused on boutique hotels, to expand its hospitality-focused cloud software suite. Guestfolio's team and technology will integrate into Cendyn's enterprise hotel CRM and serve as the company's West Coast hub in Whistler, British Columbia.

Oracle Corporation will acquire LogFire Inc., an Atlanta-based provider of cloud-based warehouse management systems (WMS), to add WMS capabilities to its Oracle Supply Chain Management (SCM) Cloud. Financial terms and a close date were not disclosed; Oracle said it will add LogFire's employees to its SCM Cloud division and continue to support LogFire's products.

Alarm.com Holdings, Inc. entered into a definitive agreement to acquire two business units—Connect (Redwood City, CA) and Piper (Ottawa, Canada)—from Icontrol Networks for approximately $140 million. The deal adds software, hardware and service-provider relationships to Alarm.com's connected-home platform to accelerate R&D, expand product offerings and strengthen relationships with service-provider partners.

Vancouver-based private equity firm Lighthouse Equity Partners has acquired AdPerfect, a Vancouver, British Columbia–based SaaS provider of self-serve, web-based classified and display advertising solutions for publishing groups. Progress Partners advised AdPerfect on the sale; Lighthouse said the acquisition supports its focus on investing in innovation-driven, small- and mid-sized Western Canadian businesses.

Cendyn, a Boca Raton–based provider of cloud-based software for the travel and hospitality industry, has received a growth equity investment from technology-focused private equity firm Accel-KKR. The partnership will fund accelerated investment in Cendyn’s product portfolio, new product innovation, and market expansion; terms were not disclosed.

Medstreaming, a Redmond, Washington healthcare workflow software provider, has acquired M2S, a registry software vendor headquartered in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. The deal—sold by prior investor Altaris Capital—combines Medstreaming's workflow and analytics capabilities with M2S's registry platform to create an integrated, cloud-based data and registry offering serving hospitals, physician practices and other healthcare stakeholders.

Primus Capital has recapitalized S&W Payroll Services, LLC (dba Netchex Online), a provider of a cloud-based HR and payroll SaaS platform. The investment will support Netchex's product expansion and geographic growth, with Primus joining the company's board to help guide its continued growth.
