Logistics & Distribution Acquisitions in 2017

GlobalTranz Enterprises, Inc. has acquired Apex Logistics Group, a Utah-based freight brokerage and logistics firm. The deal pairs Apex’s temperature-controlled and truckload brokerage expertise and customer base with GlobalTranz’s technology-driven logistics platform to expand capabilities and service offerings for shippers.

Wilson Logistics Inc., a family-owned trucking and logistics company based in Springfield, Missouri, purchased the assets of Haney Truck Line, adding 400 tractors, 1,200 trailers and terminals in Spokane, Yakima and Tumwater, Washington; Boise, Idaho; and Portland, Oregon. The seller was Evergreen Pacific Partners; the acquisition expands Wilson's geographic presence in the Pacific Northwest and adds heavy-haul and specialized flatbed freight capabilities.

Station Partners-backed Evolve Logistics Group has acquired Blue Bear Universal, Inc. and Maryland Transport Group, Inc., two contract service providers to FedEx Ground operating in New Jersey and Maryland hubs. The deal creates a platform for Evolve to expand its FedEx Ground service footprint through organic route growth and strategic add-on acquisitions; Blue Bear founder Michael Cohen will remain with the business as COO.
