Acquisitions in Idaho in 2023

West Edge Partners formed the INTACT Property Restoration platform and acquired regional restoration companies Flood Response (Thousand Palms, CA) and Valley Maintenance and Restoration (Hailey, ID). Valley Maintenance and Restoration’s sale to INTACT closed in June 2023; terms were not disclosed. The transactions expand INTACT’s footprint across the Western U.S. and create a platform for scale, knowledge sharing and best-practice implementation.

Aldinger Company, a Dallas-based calibration services provider and portfolio company of Incline Equity Partners, acquired Instrument Technologies, Inc., an A2LA-accredited instrument calibration provider with a primary lab in Boise, Idaho and four mobile labs in the Seattle area. The transaction, advised by Generational Equity, closed on November 30, 2023 as an add-on to Aldinger to expand its geographic footprint and calibration capabilities.

StorageMart has acquired Hanley Storage, a 53,920 rentable-square-foot self-storage facility with 218 units in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The acquisition expands StorageMart's presence in Idaho and will include facility upgrades and enhanced security and amenities under the StorageMart brand.

Charger Investment Partners, a Los Angeles–based private equity firm, has acquired Unitech Composites and folded it into its composites platform, APEX Space & Defense Systems. Unitech joins APEX’s other units to create a combined lightweight materials manufacturing business serving aerospace, defense and space markets.

BlackHawk Industrial, a Tulsa-based distributor of metalworking and industrial products, has acquired Advanced Industrial Supply of Pocatello, Idaho. The deal (terms undisclosed) is part of BlackHawk's aggressive acquisition strategy to expand its geographic footprint, broaden product assortment, and strengthen service capabilities in the Idaho and northern Utah markets.

International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) has acquired Empowered Education, the parent company of the Health Coach Institute and Functional Nutrition Alliance, expanding ISSA’s curriculum into health coaching and functional nutrition. The deal adds more than 36,000 students to ISSA’s community and integrates the teams and course libraries to position ISSA as a broader health and wellness education provider.

Alterra Mountain Company has completed its acquisition of Schweitzer Mountain Resort in Sandpoint, Idaho, expanding Alterra’s portfolio of year-round mountain destinations to 17 properties. Schweitzer’s existing CEO Tom Chasse will remain in place, and the MKM Trust/Capital will retain non-ski real estate and development holdings while Alterra assumes resort operations.

Mission Critical Group (MCG), a newly formed electrical equipment solutions platform backed by Emerald Lake Capital Management, has acquired Johnson Thermal Systems (JTS), a family-owned designer and manufacturer of custom power packaging and industrial cooling solutions based in Caldwell, Idaho. JTS will operate as part of the MCG platform to expand product and service capabilities supporting mission-critical power and cooling needs across data centers and other industrial end markets.

Insticator has acquired Balihoo, a provider of multi-location marketing and digital advertising technology, in a strategic deal to broaden Insticator's adtech capabilities. The acquisition brings Balihoo's franchise and multi-location marketing platform and team into Insticator to expand offerings for publishers, brands and local franchise customers.

The Pennant Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: PNTG) has acquired Bluebird Home Health, Bluebird Hospice and Bluebird Home Care, a provider of skilled home health, private duty and hospice services across Southwestern Idaho. The businesses were previously owned by Cascadia Healthcare; the acquisition expands Pennant's continuum of home-based care in the Treasure Valley and broader Idaho market.

HighGround Restoration Group, a Trivest portfolio company, has acquired Allklean, a Post Falls, Idaho-based provider of water damage restoration and carpet cleaning services serving Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. The acquisition expands HighGround's family of restoration brands into the Pacific Northwest while preserving Allklean's brand and supporting growth through national scale and invested capital.

Hawke Media, a Santa Monica-based marketing consultancy, has acquired Tribute Media, a web marketing agency headquartered in Meridian, Idaho. The acquisition expands Hawke's presence into the U.S. Northwest and brings Tribute's web development, inbound marketing and HubSpot expertise into Hawke's portfolio.

Ryan Specialty (NYSE: RYAN) signed a definitive agreement to acquire certain assets of ACE Benefit Partners, a medical stop loss general agent headquartered in Eagle, Idaho. The deal (terms undisclosed) is intended to expand Ryan Specialty Benefits’ medical stop loss distribution capabilities and establish a nationwide presence; the acquisition was expected to close in July 2023.

Funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners have closed the acquisition of Fatbeam Holdings, LLC from a fund managed by SDC Capital Partners and other investors. Fatbeam is a fiber broadband provider operating ~1,250 route miles across the western United States; Basalt said it will partner with management to continue the company’s growth and expand connectivity to education, commercial, carrier, and government customers.

Clearview Capital Fund IV completed a recapitalization of Inventive, LLC (closed May 5, 2023), partnering with its Vertikal Brands team to support growth of the domestic manufacturing business. Inventive founder Chuck Ceccarelli retained a significant equity stake; Clearview said it will leverage Inventive's engineering and lean manufacturing capabilities to expand product development and market reach in towing, fishing, ATV/UTV and garage end markets.

Pacific Office Automation (POA), a privately held office technology company headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, has acquired Fenton's Office Solutions, a Konica Minolta and Epson dealer based in Idaho Falls. The acquisition expands POA's Konica Minolta footprint into Southeastern Idaho, Wyoming and Montana and brings Fenton's customers access to POA's broader IT, managed print, cybersecurity and unified communications offerings.

Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Sevana Bioenergy and will make a $250 million capital commitment to accelerate development of renewable natural gas (RNG) projects across North America. Sevana, an owner-operator of large-scale anaerobic digestion projects, has deployed over $350 million of projects under construction and operates digester facilities across agricultural regions including Oregon, Idaho and South Dakota.

Highlander Partners, through its defense-focused division High Point Aerotechnologies, acquired Black Sage Technologies from Acorn Growth Companies. Black Sage, a Boise-based developer and integrator of Counter-UAS hardware and its DefenseOS C2 software, will complement Highlander’s growing C-UAS platform and expand capabilities for military, internal security, and critical infrastructure customers.
