Building Products Acquisitions in 2013

Grouse Ridge Capital, a Pittsburgh-area private equity firm, has acquired Clearspan Construction Products, a small Latrobe, Pennsylvania-based maker of construction components. The announcement notes the transaction was completed by a 7 Mile advisor; financial terms and the selling party were not disclosed.

Beacon Roofing Supply, Inc. (Nasdaq: BECN) has acquired Contractors Roofing & Supply Co. (CRS), a single-location distributor of residential roofing products based in O'Fallon, Missouri with approximately $14 million in annual sales. The acquisition gives Beacon a presence in the St. Louis market and expands its distribution footprint while CRS owner Ken Bennett will exit to pursue other interests.

Grouse Ridge Capital has acquired Castcon Stone, a precast/cast-stone manufacturer based in Pennsylvania. The acquisition expands Grouse Ridge's building-products and manufacturing capabilities in its portfolio.

Garland Industries, Inc. has acquired DryDog Barriers, LLC, a Charlotte-based manufacturer of below-grade waterproofing products and accessories. DryDog’s product line will be integrated into GMX, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Garland, to expand Garland/GMX’s waterproofing capabilities and pursue additional residential and commercial waterproofing opportunities.
