Transportation Acquisitions in 2016

Emerson acquired Locus Traxx (Jupiter, Florida) and PakSense (Boise, Idaho) to expand its cargo- and cold-chain monitoring capabilities for fresh food and temperature-sensitive shipments. The deals add real-time temperature loggers and cloud-based analytics to Emerson's portfolio, strengthening its offering to growers, shippers, retailers and other cold-chain participants.

TZP Growth Partners I, L.P. (part of TZP Group) completed a strategic growth investment in Del Mar Recovery Solutions, a Carlsbad, California-based provider of automotive asset recovery and repossession management services. The capital will be used to invest in technology and systems, recruit talent, and expand service offerings while Del Mar’s founder/management continue to operate the business.

Schneider (Green Bay, Wisconsin) acquired less-than-truckload specialist Watkins & Shepard Trucking (Helena, Montana) and final-mile carrier Lodeso Inc. (Zeeland, Michigan) to expand its capabilities in final-mile delivery and capitalize on fast-growing e-commerce. Terms were not disclosed; Watkins & Shepard operates 20 terminals and about 1,300 drivers, while Lodeso operates an agent network of nearly 600 agents, enabling Schneider to link first-mile and final-mile logistics for large consumer goods.
